Lots of shortcomings and far from "perfect", but this is reality we're talking about.

Conservatives who want guns falling from the sky like manna and prefer lots of uninsured people will of course bemoan all of this, but the fact is that he has actually accomplished A LOT. Undeniably. He will go down as one of the most consequential presidents of the last quarter century at least. Right up there with Reagan. And all that with a large Republican contingent that refused to work with him out of principle.

Not bad... Will be interesting to see Trump accomplish a fraction of his outrageous "I'll just dictate like a CEO" promises if he ever gets into that seat.
Not to mention he's one of the few recent Presidents to finish out two full terms without some kind of massive scandal during his presidency.

Bush II: Fabricating Iraq War evidence, Katrina ball-dropping
Clinton: Lewinsky Scandal/Impeachment
Bush I: Single Term
Reagan: Iran/Contra incident
Carter: Single Term
Ford: Single Term
Nixon: Watergate
You have to go all the way back to Johnson in 1963-1969 without coming up with someone who didn't ROYALLY screw up two terms, and even Johnson screwed the pooch by escalating the Vietnam war far more than he should have.

Love him or hate him, Obama had his **** together.

Is being president while being black a scandal? I think to some it sure is. That's ok. They have their "definitely going to be the next president this time and all around winner" in Trump.

Regardless of how much CD posters bemoan Obama, Presidential historical scholars will rank him even higher in a few more years. Currently, he is well accomplished and ranked #18. Well done, Mr. President!

To add some systematic evidence to the perennial conversation, in 2014 we surveyed 162 members of the American Political Science Association’s Presidents & Executive Politics section and asked them to rate the U.S. presidents. Here is what we found.

For the folks who so despise Obama I could only suggest that they "chill" ... we will be electing a new president in just over 7 months, and another family will be moving into the White House in 9 months.

BTW whatever happened to the "Birthers"? Did they give up on their fantasy of Obama being removed from office and being led out of the White House in handcuffs?

I expect he'll be number 7 in 20 years, behind Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, the Roosevelts, and Eisenhower.

Oh, no, the birthers are still out there. Now they are hitching their broken wagon to Donald Trump, the King of Birthers. They actually believe his whole real, undisclosed reason for running is to finally, finally reveal all of the intel his researchers have uncovered in Hawaii. He's just waiting until the election is over and Obama is out of the White House before he has him arrested.

Birthers are absolutely giddy about Trump's candidacy.

Obama is pretty much a black Jimmy Carter, a forgettable president with a page in history of what were we thinking?

Does the number really surprise you? The media has been worshipping him since day 1.

He has been a disaster but history will be kind to him.

What has he done that has benefitted the economy? Higher taxes? More EPA regulations? The stimulus that even he admitted did not contain shovel ready jobs? Trashing business? Obamacare?

How much more pathetic can it get than US companies undergoing corporate inversions to reincorporate in the UK because its tax and regulatory burden is much more business friendly than ours?

Bush was no fiscal conservative by any means but Obama has added the same amount to the national debt as all 43 presidents before him combined. The average annual deficit under Obama has been three times as high as the average annual deficit under Bush.

That is just part of the economic calamity that has been Obama, not to mention judicial nominees and foreign policy such as the Iran nuclear deal.

I'm admittedly conservative but consider myself fairly adept at separating emotion from fact. I don't see any positive policies that Obama has implemented. Besides that, his behavior has been cringeworthy as he apologized for the country abroad and trashes his political enemies domestically.

Except that Jimmy Carter was a one-term president and Obama was successfully re-elected.
