The guy is right. This is America. We have the freedom to wear whatever we want. The hijab doesn't bother me. It's no different than a Texan wearing a cowboy hat.
However, I do have a problem with burkas because they completely cover someone's face. It should be illegal to completely cover your face in certain places. Covering your face is a safety issue.
The difference is, I want to allow their women to choose freely. I do not FORCE them to expose their face, but encourage it. I believe most women (especially beautiful women) want to expose their face.
Many Muslim women in Turkey, central Asia and China do expose their face. It is great.
I think they should be FORCED to show their faces. We need to be able to see who people are - for identification purposes. Anybody could be under there.
He's right and wrong. He's right, this is America...but he's wrong on pulling off her hijab. The fact it's America, allows her to express and support her religious views. It allows people to express their opinions. He could have said all he wanted to her - about how he disagreed with the wearing of the hijab, etc... but the moment he touched her hijab, he committed assault.

Which would you rather deal with. Because religion is all around you.
Oppression and hate?
Liberty, forgiveness and tolerance?
You keep saying the same thing without addressing my points, specifically that you have no right to act upon others based on your thoughts on their beliefs. This applies to the KKK as well as the Muslim community.
Tashfeen Malik was not "masquerading" as a Muslim, she was a Muslim.
So were the 9/11 hijackers.
It's amazing, the lengths to which some will go to excuse Islam.
The word "Islam" means "submission," and Islam demands the murder or subjugation of all who do not "submit."
It is the religion of Islam itself that is the problem.
But of course, few people know anything about its history, or want to know.
Few know that Muslims attacked Christian Europe for 300 years before Christians finally responded by launching the Crusades.
Islam has been a violent, aggressive system of oppression ever since its founding 1400 years ago.
That will have to be changed.
About 20,000 nuclear weapons.
They should represent 0%.
The person targeted was a Muslim, not a Jew or a Christian.
Jews and Christians are not the problem, Muslims are.
Exactly.
Maybe if nobody had resisted Hitler, Hitler would have stopped his naughty behavior.
Yeah, right.
Islam is a "religion" of murder and oppression and it needs to be eliminated -- not just here but throughout the world.
Islam does not believe in freedom and democracy, and therefore does not belong in this country.
Those who practice Islam are fundamentally un-American.
Again condoning all Muslims based on the actions of a few is NO different than me denouncing the Catholic Church based on the hundreds of stories of child rape and institutional cover up. The extremists are just that, extreme and hardly the majority. They interpret the Koran differently than most Muslims who do not believe in murder for those who do not submit.
I'll assume the fish meant that covering your face, can potentially hide identity/sex.
Is there anywhere in America where a veil is common place?
Wearing a diguise such as a wig, glasses can hide identity/sex as well with the added benefit of not drawing attention to oneself if one was up to no good.
As far as asking whether a veil is commonplace in America, it's a strange question for an American to ask a Canadian.

The question was in general and not specifically to anyone.
