The fact is instead of the majority of Filipinos in fear of crime it is the criminals now in fear.
Countries that impose the harshest penalties on drug traffickers and users spend the least and do not have millions addicted to hard drugs.

I can appreciate how non- criminal Filipinos feel safer under Duterte.

Are you distinguishing between investors from China vs. Filipino Chinese businesspersons, who do number among the elite (though most Filipino Chinese aren't of the rich elite in the Philippines) - such as Lucio Tan, the SyCips, Gokongweis, etc.

just like in China or Russia, all wealth is subject to govt control if it wants to, like in 1972 when Marcos seized the companies of the oligarchy. just recently, he mentioned the name of an oligarch and the latter had to surrender his gambling license. mind you, no case has been filed against this oligarch and yet he has to be low profile suddenly

with his popularity, Duterte could easily seized this wealth if it wants to and being "socialist" kuno, distribute it to 16M who voted for him.

This guy is the real deal! Unfortunately, I don't live in the Philippines and can only vote for Trump. Life is full of compromises.
