and yet POTUS himself confirmed it , and McMasters has as repeatedly not denied it. AND credit to McMasters, he is being "used" by Trump but he is refusing to outright lie, at least from what we can see.
I am impressed with the restraint being shown by some of our long term allies, it is almost as if they expect Trump will not last much longer and they are trying to wait him out.
Pragmatism. What do you do when faced with a chimpanzee holding a grenade? You try to keep things calm and make what efforts you can to keep him from pulling the pin. You can't take it from him, and you don't want to anger him.
Merkel is the leader of the free world now and she knows it. It's not a job she asked for, but there it is.

That's why I feel badly for him. McMasters was a well-respected and highly decorated wartime general. And he is being forced to be a puppet and help cover for Trump's lies.

I'm surprised McMasters took on the job in the first place. Two or three of Trump's picks refused his request before McMasters accepted the job, saying things like their family obligations made working for Trump untenable. What person would refuse the call from the POTUS to work for him? A wise man, it appears. Now McMasters is filling in for Spicey and looking mighty uncomfortable doing it.
I agree, I would not be surprised to find out McMasters and other concerned patriots are the leakers trying to limit the damage Trump is causing.

One can only be optimistic & hope for the best as they "..wait him out."
Sadly, it's Germany's Angela Merkel who is now steadfastly the real leader of the free world. That's how far into dictator-friendly territory trump has sunk us in terms of his early comments & endeavors in the realm of foreign policy. And how many of our long time allies has he or his administration already needlessly insulted or picked a fight with in less than 4 months?
