The founders of this country would roll over in their collective graves if they could see the vitriol, hate, and "party first over anyone else, no matter what" diatribes. Embracing hate over compassion is what has proliferated. And btw, compassion is NOT a "liberal" construct. It's called being human.

Can I get an Amen for that.

No, if you read about the early days they were pretty vitriolic even back then. Here's a search that will keep you busy for the rest of the week:
"founding fathers vitriol"

Somehow the country was able to come together. Otherwise, what "great again" timeframe are people trying to get back to? What exactly made it great? I believe some part of that didn't include the level of division that's been the last few years. And for sure the country has certainly been through it's divisions in the past (civil war anyone? civil rights anyone?).

There's a saying, "when you know better, you do better." Well people should know better, but the urge to point fingers, blame, hate, and find amusement when other Americans are or will be hurt seems to be enticing to a wide spectrum.

Seems simple enough to me.

I think I can be a Republican and a Conservative and see the logic of people having an income they can count on in their later years and a health care system to keep them productive.

I'm sorry there are so few of us who feel that way.
Wow, Pull...I NEVER in a million years thought I would ever agree with you on ANYTHING!

Maybe there's hope for our nation after all. If we could all just somehow agree to put aside our partisanship and work together to achieve goals that benefit our society as a whole rather than just a few then we might just be okay.

I hope they do move on. Start doing something about taxes.

I suspect Obamacare will collapse on its own anyway.

And why aren't they being held to that very standard by their constituents?
Problem is many of us voted for Republicans to get rid of Obamacare, not fix it. Now that that is a possibility, we have several Republican senators who have changed their minds.

GOP now owns the heath care in our country. No matter what they are destroying 1/6 of the nations economy.

With the uncertainty created with todays vote they will kill whatever is left of the individual market.

GOP now owns Trumpcare.
