They came up with several plans, but never one that pleased enough people to get passed.
Now the plan may be let ACA fail, as it must, and step in with something that provides minimal acceptable Medicaid and Medicare and hope for the best.

Good point and so obvious that many can't see it.

Republicans. Trump voters. I think that about covers it.

Only someone that has Medicare coverage could be this cavalier toward fellow human beings. How would you feel if your taxpayer provided Medicare coverage went away and you were left to fend for yourself?

I feel the same way. Nothing about this is funny or entertaining to me. Health insurance is a life and death issue for many people. I will say for all people because even if someone is lucky to never have a severe illness or accident you can bet someone in their family is not so lucky. It touches everyone in one form or another. Case in point, one of my friend's children was recently in a boating accident. This person was completely healthy then a wave caught the boat in such a way that she now has suffered a broken back. Now, is this funny to people or entertaining??? I would hope not. It should serve notice to everyone that we are all one step away from needing extensive medical care for one reason or another.

Well, except for the Democrat party that passed a bill they understood only by the name. Nancy Pelosi herself said that to understand a bill this complex we had to pass it, let the bureaucrats implement it, and then see what happens.
(Not her words precisely, but that was the problem.)
This issue is all one string. Once you start chewing on it you have to swallow it to the end. Right now the government has this big string hanging out the mouth because most of the constituents of both persuasions are unwilling to turn 17% of the economy of the nation over to the government. Of course, a lot of the medical people already work for the government in hospitals, research, clinics, and the VA, but its a question of who pays. ACA provided for multiple payers, just not enough of them.

The GOP voted more than 60 times to repeal the ACA when there was no chance of it ever happening. Why don't they just dust off one of those bills and push it through? It got through easily before. The answer, of course, is that no sane Republican would ever vote for those sham pieces of legislation if they had to actually stand behind them.

The party did nothing but showboat for six years, and they have absolutely nothing to offer now.

This is the most inept political party I've ever seen.
And if they had started off making small, needed improvements, we'd have better health insurance law right now. Instead they bloviated, wasted time, and made people think there is an easy, better way to make sure everyone has health care.

What a waste of time, energy, and resources.

Does anybody depend solely on Medicare A&B? I know I pay private premiums to somebody?
Oh, and By The Way, the taxpayer that provides my Medicare coverage is ME. I paid in for most of my working life, since 1965. I can't help it if the government miscalculated what the premiums should have been.
