There are threads on here created by people who think votes from educated people should only count and votes from people living in the largest metros should only count. I'm going to be the one creating a thread on taxpayers who should only be allowed to vote. The reason? Those who pay taxes should be the only ones that determines where our tax money goes. They pay taxes so they should choose where their tax dollars go. People who hasn't paid a dime to the feds or owes money to the IRS shouldn't be allowed to vote. And by the way, I've paid taxes and don't owe money to the IRS.
The interests of the people of the United States need to be represented more broadly than just the interests of the wealthy. Whats to stop a wealthy employer from terminating employees that he knows don't share his political values?
The right to vote in the United States thankfully runs deeper than your pockets. Believe it or not, money is not the be all, end all for many people. Voting in America concerns more than just how taxpayer dollars are spent. It concerns how our nation interacts with others, what sorts of policies we are going to have in America concerning civil rights and the environment, and concerns moral causes such as abortion and assisted suicide.
This was a bad idea when it was originally implemented, and we have progressed beyond it.
I think you are referring to federal income tax, since even the poorest person in America pays lot of hidden and imbedded taxes to the local, state and federal government. It seems self-evident, particularly since politicians have been playing the game of endlessly promising more (expensive) goodies for decades now.
I love the idea, but modern politicians have doomed our nation to inevitable bankruptcy with their insane levels of overspending and taxation (without using the money they confiscate for the things that absolutely will have to be done, like maintaining national infrastructure), on top of racking up a national debt that is so large it should be a joke, and adding huge interest costs to the taxpayer's burden.

Everyone who buys gas in this country pays taxes, whether they are citizens or not. Everyone who makes a phone call in this country pays taxes, whether they are citizens or not. Everyone who pays a utility bill in this country pays taxes, whether they are citizens or not. Everyone who buys something in a retail store (except for a few states) in this country pays taxes, whether they are citizens or not. Everyone who owns property (except for a few states) in this country pays taxes, whether they are citizens or not.
Just noting.......many illegals pay federal taxes.....
With stolen or fake Social Security numbers.
