Except that one of those rights was the right to own other human beings, treat them however they liked, and buy or sell them whenever they wanted. From then until now, "state's rights" (in the context of U.S. race relations) has been nothing but a pretext for the subjugation and exploitation of black people.

Northerners owned slaves still after the Civil War. That does away with your logic. If people in the North owned slaves too how could it be about slavery? That makes no sense whatsoever. You should know that by now. Besides that it was Northern ships that brought many of the slaves and sold them to the plantation owners. What a bunch of hypocrites throwing stones at the South when they were doing the same thing.
Northern officers brought their slaves to the battlefield to take care of them. It wasn't about slavery so much as it was about greed. The North was jealous of the South because they were more successful than the North was.

Do we really have to start this thread all over again from the beginning? On July 8th we had around 30 Klansman and around 1,000 counter protesters show up. The counter protesters blew the protest out of proportion and 22 of them were arrested. The Charlottesville PD was scolded for using too much force on counter protesters. The expectation was that it would be a repeat of that weekend during the weekend of August 11th. Friday night was easy, but Saturday brought in 15 times the amount of protesters. The CPD has around 130 officers (50,000 residents) and it took time to mobilize enough State Police from multiple locations from numerous counties around the state.
I don't know what your point is other than to validate the incompetence of your local LEO.

In any case, if Charlottesville LEO had been controlling crowds and keeping mobs off the streets or preventing vehicular traffic where they allowed mobs to be, this would not have happened.

It has to be equal against or for violence, there's only two sides to this.
This is because the left has been violently attacking not just alt-right rallies but all of the right. Everyone knows this. Do you expect people on the right to go undefended and be beat to smithereens by the left trying to shut down the right's speech?
As for the guy in the car, in this country everyone is innocent until proven guilty. He is allowed his day in court. Until then, no one knows why he did what he did, it's speculation. And to beat you to the punch, if it turns out it's because he is a lunatic who was hell bent on running over as many people as possible, of course I'll condem him. Right now there is question if that's actually what he was doing.
We live in the United States of America. We don't render guilt based on feelings. That's not justice.
