It matters none if they like federal immigration laws as they apply to the feds. It's meaningless. Not a single state has done anything to block the feds from doing their job.
And again, you are upset with the states as opposed to the federal government for not doing their Constitutionally mandated job.
It matters a lot when states create their own policies and laws conflicting with Federal law regarding immigration. Like it or not, that's what this is about.
The Supreme Court has already ruled that immigration is the job of the federal government. That the states can't enforce it even if they want to.
Baloney! In the first place, the Supreme Court issues opinions, it does not rule. Kings rule, and the last time I checked, the Supreme court is a part of the Federal Government, it does not rule over it.
The States, when they ratified the Constitution, agreed to abide by it's terms. That means they must comply with it's terms. This means they are obligated to their citizens to enforce the laws of the United States and protect their citizens. Failing to do this, they are not abiding by the terms of the Constitution.
Listen to this video from a lawyer and disabled Army Vet (a former Russian linguist) who now travels the country teaching the Constitution to citizen groups and politicians (State and local politicians as well):
Repeal Obamacare - fail
Ban Muslims - fail
Build wall and get Mexico to pay for it - fail
cut funding to most American cities - fail
bring jobs back to America - fail
Illegal immigration is a Federal issue. You'd think people who live in places like CA would be tired of the crime and additional homeless that goes with being a Sanctuary.
Oh well, let them raise their state taxes to pay for the additional benefits they must pay.
The funny thing is this is the very kind of thing the "right" has condemned for years. The Federal government threatening states with funding for not doing what they want.
True, this illustrates that Trump represents no platform or ideology or belief system, conservative or otherwise. It's all about playing to his base and wielding power and control to feed his egomania.
KrisAnne Hall nails it on Sanctuary Cities. It is a violation of law, and the Constitution to harbor and grant benefits to those who are in the country illegally, which is what Sanctuary Cities are doing:
Here's the oath of office for Governor's in California ...
I (Governor) do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California, that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter.
