Trump's fault? You can bet if they were hiring 5,000, he'd be taking credit for it.

yep. He's personally responsible for anything good that happens, yet bears zero fault for anything bad.

But actually, I expect a tweet attacking "loser" Macys and saying that they are failing because they kicked him out of their commercials and stopped selling his crappy, made in third world countries clothing.

They actually have a huge online presence now and their performance online is fabulous. It matches Amazon for speed without the prime membership. Of course, it's just clothing and makeup. I'm shocked they are still performing poorly. Even more so than they expected for 2017.

Even if they were hiring 10,000 people and they said it was because of trump (think about the bonuses) the 2 of you would say, thanks Obama, his policies are finally starting to work....

When it comes to clothing many want to see the product in person. I may go to a store to see an item but not find the style/size I want so I take to the online world and get what I need. When it comes to brands carried at Macy's I can usually find a better price online (Amazon or elsewhere) or head to the outlets for high end stuff.

These are the cuts and store closures that they announced in August 2016 when they announced they would be closing 100 stores.

Yes, but having physical locations is not necessary anymore.

Or greatly reduce their numbers. I think Amazon is going to open a select number of brick n mortars so there must be a market for them but nothing like 30 or even 10 years ago.

The moves are part of a plan announced in August 2016 to close 100 stores. Altogether, the company has now revealed 81 of the 100 locations
