Excuse me?

All liberals were in full shriek mode about how this tax plan was for the rich.

I think the point is you and I will save $20. The rich will save tens of thousands. This was heavily stilted towards the rich. If you're satisfied with saving a few bucks a week, while people who live in 7,000 square foot homes save tens of thousands, then you absolutely should support this new tax law.

Um, yay?
Is that going to be like a 20 hour week part time job ?

It may be for Dems who need retrained after a coffee break.

Maybe they can get some assistance from one of the illegals on the payroll.

Never hurts to ask them.

It never ceases to amaze how little actual reading comprehension goes on out there.

First there is the obvious: just saying someone's wage packet will increase is *not* sufficient. More to the point is how great will the difference be in comparison. A savings of $500 per year in income taxes works out to a little over nine dollars per week. While one supposes that is something, it is hardly any reason to break out the champagne.

Secondly main reason for this so called "increase in paychecks" is the IRS has issued or is issuing new withholding tables. Many wage earners will not how how much (if anything) they are saving through this new tax bill until they actually prepare their income taxes.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-polit...tax-reform-irs

Large numbers of American workers tend to over withhold so they receive large tax "refunds". Which by the way one has always found to be a stupid idea because one is lending the federal government money at no interest, but we're not on that right now....

Given changes to the standard deduction and exemptions many wage earners probably will need to adjust their withholdings. But again most will not know this until they've prepared their taxes.

It is to the GOP's benefit to have as many persons possible drinking their Kool-Aid *now* as mid-term elections loom on the horizon. However the actual truth of how this tax *reform* will affect many people will not be known until after April 2018 or even the next tax filing season as various parts of bill become active and work their way down.

This is especially true since that dog of a tax bill is well north of 1,000 pages and no one knew then (at passage) the total sum of the thing, and more importantly it added layers of confusion and complexity to tax code that was already full of such things. In short there will be no end of rules or whatever as the IRS/Treasury Department tries to sort out intent versus what some tax filers believe.

If you look at tax burden, the middle class gets a much larger percentage tax cut. If you are against middle class households having their tax burdens slashed by 20% to 40%, then you should absolutely oppose this new tax code. In comparison, the rich will only have their taxes cut by a few percentage points.

Well of course the tax cuts is really for the rich, after all these swampy politicians are sitting in their deep pockets, but it's not ONLY for the rich, they have to throw crumbs to the rest of us so that we all feel included in order to get it passed.

Middle class is a construct, not something set into stone. Sooner more persons realize this the better. What passes for "middle class" in say New York City, NY or Boston, MA is likely totally different than say Baton Rouge, LA or Atlanta, GA. See: Are you in the US middle class? Try our income calculator | Pew Research Center

If many Americans sat down and actually ran the numbers (and were honest with themselves) they are lower middle to even working class or just down right poor. What has changed over the past several decades is the rapid use of credit (debt) to paper over what cannot be achieved via income alone. It is debt that largely allows many to have the trappings of what many are please to call "middle class". Things such as owing a home, one or more motor vehicles, homes including closets filled with "stuff" from expensive wardrobes to electronics. And so it goes.
