I hope for a low turnout if this event takes place but I'm confident there will be enough protesters to cause a major disruption. Reports yesterday on conservative leaning WTOP radio say catastrophic damage will be done to the streets by the tanks. This will result in endless construction which as you know this area cannot handle.
Probably would be better if this parade to honor Trump the Magnificent took place in Fayetteville, NC.

That's where most of the soldiers who are still stateside are posted. Not only will it be less disruptive to their lives, they are more likely to have a supportive turnout.

I still think an airshow with the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds would be just the ticket.

Don't care either way, but if I was still in the military I would not want to be in it. Seeing how the Trump haters will react during the parade if there is one would be amusing though.

The Armed Forces should not be used as a political prop/toy for a septuagearian, man-boy wanna-be authoritarian. That, and a totally unnecessary cost.

The US is moving closer each day to an authoritarian third world political and economic model, so it seems appropriate to hold the requisite signature parade.

It's going to be a celebration of Donald Trump's pride, who will bask in being seen as the leader saluted by our military.
For all of Trump's flaws I do not believe he wants a parade for ego reasons... that to me is a phony narrative being pushed by the media. I think Trump honestly believes that a parade would help to unite people in this country, and get people to think more positively about our military, which is often bashed by those on the left. Those are the real reasons, IMO.

Having said that, while I think a parade sounds interesting, I think it would ultimately send the wrong message to the rest of the world. It would give the appearance that we were trying to copy other countries, and the US shouldn't be in that position. Other countries are supposed to look up to us, and copy us, not the other way around.

If we bring them all home for good, I'm all for the parade.

It would be a hell of a celebration.

I posted this in the other parade thread, but it's still applicable.

For all of Trump's flaws I do not believe he wants a parade for ego reasons as the media is so desperately trying to push.

Bottom line: Trump wants a parade for respectable reasons, but fails to see that having one would actually make our country look weaker, not stronger.

When you're a great lover, you don't have to go around in bars with your tongue wiggling back in forth in imitation of oral sex.

When you're a good Christian, you don't have to announce that, "As a good Christian, ..."

When you spend more than the next seven nations on war, you don't have to hold parades.

Just saying.
