Two Russians on a yacht, an Oligarch and Deputy PM from the Kremlin having a meeting to discuss the American problem and mentioning the name V. Nuland is not exactly a stretch especially since Nuland was given Steele report a few days earlier.
Your cluelessness of Nuland's involvement in the deterioration of US-Russia relations has led you astray... you are connecting dots that don't exist.

Last year a leaker said that 70% of the dossier had already been corroborated by the FBI.

The wrongdoings of Waldman's clients do not necessarily attach to him, do they?

If you believe that, then consider the lawyers of Donald and Don Jr.

Alan Futerfas
Donald Trump Jr, the president’s oldest son, became the latest in the Trump orbit to recruit outside counsel after revelations he accepted a meeting with a Russian lawyer promising compromising information on Hillary Clinton from Russian government officials.

Alan Futerfas, a veteran New York City criminal defense attorney, is best known for defending clients involved with known mafia crime families. He has represented others involved in cybercrime.

Futerfas defended Nikita Kuzmin, a Moscow-based hacker who was arrested by US law enforcement during a trip to California in 2010. Kuzmin later pleaded guilty to numerous fraud charges as authorities branded him the mastermind behind the “Gozi virus”. The malware, which still exists, infected at least a million computers worldwide, including 40,000 in the US, leading to millions of dollars being stolen from banks.

Marc Kasowitz
Proudly brandishing the moniker of the “toughest lawyer on Wall Street”, Kasowitz has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Donald Trump, representing the president on a variety of cases over the past two decades.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, he successfully kept sealed Trump’s divorce records from his first failed marriage, which reportedly include sworn allegations of domestic violence. His firm, which specialises in financial rather than criminal law, also represented Trump during his Atlantic City bankruptcy cases and amid the fraud charges brought against Trump University by the state of New York.

Shortly after Kasowitz was hired as Trump’s counsel for the Russia investigation, the Washington Post revealed that he faced potential conflicts of interest. He also represents a Russian oligarch with close ties to the Kremlin and Russia’s largest state bank, Sberbank, in continuing litigation. Last month, the Guardian reported that Kasowitz’s firm was involved in the sale of a prestigious piece of New York real estate to Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser. That could also become a conflict of interest as Kushner’s financial dealings come under the spotlight of the Russia inquiry.

That's not what McCabe said. When testifying to Congress for 7 hours, he said the ONLY part of the dossier they've been able to verify is that Carter Page had traveled to Moscow. That's it.

Don Jr is a private citizen. Warner is a sitting Dem US Senator. BIG difference.

There you go again, moving the goalposts.

We were talking about Mr. Waldman, remember?

You said,
" So why go through Waldman now, especially when Waldman is CLEARLY an agent of Putin, the Russian government, and billionaire Russian oligarchs?"

Nice of you to leave the prez out of your reply, too.

Your point is valid. Owing to her position, it is also possible they were discussing another issue involving Nuland that was unrelated to the election.

During her testimony, at a meeting June 6, 2016, Nuland noted Russia's 2014 invasion of Ukraine which she said, "shattered any remaining illusions about this Kremlin's willingness to abide by international law or live by the rules of the institutions that Russia joined at the end of the Cold War."

This is the scale of a problem which may have caused two Russians to still be discussing her in August 2016 aboard the yacht.

Perhaps it was only just a coincidence that one of the Russians was the employer of Trump's campaign manager Paul Manafort. Also a coincidence that their meeting apparently was supposed to be secret with separate planes, separate times on/off yacht.

Or it may have been something else again.

You claimed the pee pee dossier was 70% verified. McCabe testified to Congress that the only part they've been able to verify is that Carter Page did in fact travel to Moscow. There are transcripts, you know. /shrug

This thread sure seems to have finally caught on.

Took some time to come up with a position to undermine it.

So remind me, what exactly are you trying to undermine here?

Oh yes, how two big wigs on a yacht came to be discussing Victoria Nuland in August 2016.

We know she read parts of dossier in July 2016. What does it matter if Adam or Moses told Paul Manafort's meal ticket that she knew. The point remains Manafort's personal oligarch and billionaire patron is aboard a yacht talking to Putin's direct report.

Not only is this Kremlin guy a report, he has the same job Putin had before becoming Russia's leader.

Again: I concede we don't know exactly why she is being discussed, it could be just coincidence that it was just after she read the dossier.

I admit I keep referring to Oleg Vladimirovich Deripaska as employer. Manafort both received millions of dollars of payment from him and maybe owed him millions dollars from a business deal which went astray.

Deripaska is not just some Russian guy. At one point he was Russia's richest man. Although, Putin off record may be even more wealthy.

After McCabe's testimony, it was reported by a leaker that 70% of the dossier had been confirmed. This is possible for two reasons:

The 70% could have been about Page, which reports McCabe confirmed were verified, or McCabe was being evasive (and how would we ever learn that?)

There may be more information that has been corroborated, based upon his vague answers. It seems to me that he was withholding information.

McCabe told the panel that the FBI worked hard “to verify the contents of the anti-Trump ‘dossier’ and stood by its credibility.” However, he could not tell the lawmakers if “the bureaur has been able to verify the substantive allegations in the dossier, or even identify a substantive allegation that has been corroborated.”

The lawmakers asked him which part of the dossier was true and Mccabe only pointed to the part “that the unpaid, low-level Trump foreign policy advisor Carter Page visited Moscow in July 2016.”

It appears to me that he was withholding information, especially when you read this:

The sources said that when asked when he learned that the dossier had been funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee, McCabe claimed he could not recall – despite the reported existence of documents with McCabe’s own signature on them establishing his knowledge of the dossier’s financing and provenance.

ETA - The OP is right. We've traveled so far from the boat that the sharks are throwing dice to see who gets
first bite.

You may want to read what Comey said. He didn't say the whole dossier was unverified.

Okay time to let this thread die it's natural death.

In general, GOP supporters don't seem that concerned that:

Trump's campaign manager Manafort was employed by Deripaska or at a minimum owed him money back;

Manafort communicated with Deripaska during the campaign; and

Deripaska has now been shown in communication with a top Kremlin official.

Understandable, what reply can they make?

Further, we can admit that there is no absolute proof they were discussing collusion to win the election for Trump.

Time will tell.

BTW

"In 2005, Manafort proposed a confidential plan to Deripaska to “influence politics, business dealings and news coverage inside the United States, Europe and the former Soviet republics to benefit the Putin government.” In 2006, he signed a $10 million annual contract with Deripaska."

I know it is old news but worth listing in this thread.

Happy future Mueller day!
