No, Warner wanted to meet with Steele (fabricated pee pee dossier author) in private off the record, and Steele's contact point person is Adam Waldman, who is a registered FARA agent who works for Derispaka, Putin, and the Russian government.
Steele is represented by Waldman. Let that sink in....
No, I think he just wanted a preliminary call:
Quote:
"Hey can't we do brief (off the record) call today before letter so I can frame letter," Warner texted Waldman on March 29.
"Steele wants to have letter first. Or did you mean call w me?" Waldman texted back.
No. Waldman told Warner that Steele wanted a bipartisan letter from the Committee before he would talk to Warner. Warner declined and pursued it no further than that. Clearly, he was NOT acting on behalf of the Committee.

How come this is not clear to the committee? My guess is that all members on that intel committee are using various methods to pursue information. All using their government issued phones. It doesn't seem they are too worried.
Who knows? If they knew Warner was trying to have a discussion with Steele, and it was an attempt sanctioned by the Committee, why didn't Warner ask the Committee for such a letter?

Steele had refused to appear before the SIC, and also had refused to meet with just the Chair and Vice Chair. Sen Burr would not have issued a letter to allow Sen. Warner to meet privately with Steele, as Burr would not have liked this unilateral attempt to interview Steele.

Well, Steele's representative, Adam Waldman, said Steele would meet with Warner if Warner could give him a bipartisan letter from the Committee. It's all right there in the communications transcript. You can't dispute it.

Warner declined to provide the letter.
See post#56. He did not decline. He was unable to obtain a letter.

I don't see anything in that post which indicates Warner asked the Committee for a letter. In fact, Warner didn't even tell the Committee anything about his attempt to meet with Steele until 6 months after the fact. And he only did so then because he knew IG Horowitz had the communications transcripts and could see what had happened.
Wow! A new name who the blazes is Victoria Nuland?
From Wikipedia
She was with Obama's State Department
On June 6, 2017, Nuland asserted to Christiane Amanpour of CNN that the hacking of the 2016 U.S. presidential election was, "an intentional operation by Russian intelligence services at President Putin's direction."
This thread is an amusing study in apophenia; but, when I read this post, I laughed so hard I peed my pants a little... Victoria Nuland, new player, hahahaha!
