Of course I meant 20% of those who migrate. I didn’t think it would have been interpreted any other way. Especially in light of the link I posted earlier in support of the numbers I posted.

Of course.

He's not some "undocumented guy." He is an illegal alien guy.

Those who have quit looking for work either don`t want a job or don`t need a job.

Exactly. Used to be called Seasonal Agricultural Worker. "They" can come here legally and do the work it's claimed Americans won't do. There should be some mechanism for ensuring the employer is paying at least a minimum or fair wage for the type of work it is. And we all know how that goes. This system CAN be fixed if only there were the political will and some non-partisan effort to do so.

I have the experience of working in a steel mill for 35 years and you better believe white working class people are extremely conscious of race. I agree that that`s getting old. I wasn`t referencing the Hondurans but the general attitude of the red hatted goobers. My co-workers were well aware that our mill is now producing as many tons with 600 people as they once did with 4,000 and Trump was not going to put 3,000 new workers back in the mill. Most of these people cling to guns and race and they are heart of the Trump constituency. I lived the life and it`s a safe bet that I know these people better than most of the people commenting here.

You were? Were you allowed to have a job at all as a teenager?

Too bad for you. I, on the other hand was taught to do whatever it takes to make a living. I made a lot of money by doing jobs no one else wanted and sticking with jobs others quit. I took pride in it.

I was 14 years old and took a job with a farmer doing crappy jobs like cutting weeds along his fence lines ect. I quit after 3 days when he decided to pay me half what we agreed on. Then I found out my good friend stuck it out the entire previous summer subjected to the same treatment.

I was mad that I failed. I was determined from that point on to never take business personal and not let someone else make me quit or fail. Best lesson I ever learned.

I’m not sure she realizes how it sounds to say those things. My daughter has been working in a restaurant since she turned 16, and she has plenty of other teenagers working there, Black, white and Hispanic. It seems that American teenagers here are just fine with bussing tables and cleaning dishes and stuff.

When I was a teenager, it was younger teens who would do people’s lawns for pay until they were old enough to get a job somewhere else. Now they can’t compete with the lawn services with three employees who can knock it out in 20 minutes (always illegal immigrants).

How are teens supposed to learn work ethic and the value of money if they’re not allowed to work? It’s good for them. Parents should encourage it even if it’s only during the summer. I remember my daughter’s first birthday after she got her job and she got $100 total cash from her various grandparents, and she looked at it and said, do you know how long I’d have to work to make this much money? That was a good lesson for her in my opinion.

When I was a kid, I delivered newspapers, mowed lawns, and shoveled snow. When I was a teenager I worked in an ice cream parlor and a pizza place. Those experiences taught me the value of hard work and shaped who I am today. I cant relate to statements of pride in not working. It makes no sense to me.
