Not really. We let them come, and we let them stay. It’s understandable after so many years they’ve put down roots. To make them leave now is kind of cruel. If they’ve committed crimes, let them go. If they’ve started businesses and got jobs and had kids live here so long they literally grew up here, then let them stay. Just make sure the next time we honor our agreement that it’s temporary.

Who's "we"? Certainly not mainstream Americans. There is nothing cruel about deporting people who have been told in the first place that their stay was temporary. Doesn't matter if they managed to give birth on our soil either or put down roots that should have been temporary.

Every blue-collared American regardless of their race has had to compete with illegal aliens (not undocumented) and lost because they wouldn't work for less than a fair wage. What kind of work are you referring to that any race of Americans won't do for a fair wage? American construction workers have lost their jobs to cheap, illegal aliens.

I have seen many places where white and black American youth have been doing those jobs especially where you see e-verify signs. Pick fruit? There are unlimited visas for legal, foreign pickers and only 2% of illegals are doing those jobs.

Getting back on topic, Americans shouldn't have to compete with any foreigners for jobs and that would include refugees also.

Those employment figures include those who have quit looking for work, are working low waged jobs or working more than one job to make ends meet. I'm not buying it.

But I thought liberals said America is a horrible country that needs minimum wage hikes so people can feed their family?

So when it comes to kicking people out, America is awesome again?

And in this case it is not actually a 'deportation.' The program is being terminated, and as per the agreement at the outset, once it is over, you return to your country of origin. It is "TEMPORARY" Protected Status. I do feel for people who have put down roots, purchased homes, have businesses, raised US citizen children, but again, they knew. Don't get me started on Congress or DHS, who continued to re-designate these countries for protection. A cluster, for sure. Now, if the don't leave, and don't gain a legal status somehow, then they will be subject to deportation.

I’m all for curbing illegal immigration but this move is dumb. We’ve allowed them to legally remain here for 20 years, we may as well grant them a path to citizenship.

We allowed them to remain here temporarily while their country of origin recovered from it's natural disaster or civil war. Their current status does not offer a linear, legal path to citizenship, and that is likely why we did it this way. TPS is actually not even a 'status.' They are not legal permanent residents (who DO have a path to citizenship). Congress would have to create a path or process through legislation. yea, good luck with that.

Anywhere is the US where both blacks and undocumented immigrants live.

We have a LEGAL immigration program called H2A visas and farmers have unlimited use of them, so there's no need to rely on illegal labor for that. I'm wondering how old you are--perhaps 25 or under--or if you've lived in the same place your whole life--probably so--if you think young white and black American kids haven't been buffing tables and washing dishes as long as America as has had tables and dishes. Further, illegal aliens no longer solely occupy bottom-rung jobs. In many states they're granted in-state tuition and in California, where their numbers are largest, they are granted professional degrees and therefore can practice medicine, law, can teach, etc. In fact, Gov. Brown had the word "alien" struck from the Labor Code and state legislators put restrictions on the use of e-verify, so illegals are no longer relegated to low-paying, cash-only industries.

I suggest you read this investigative piece from Buzzfeed News {"All You Americans Are Fired") in regards to Americans, particularly black ones, being pushed out of jobs in favor of immigrants both legal and illegal who will put up with unethical and sometimes illegal labor practices that Americans won't. It runs the gamut from produce farms in the Deep South to corn tasseling and horse raising in IL and KY, from landscaping in OR to Christmas tree farms in NC.

The H-2 guest worker program, which brought in 150,000 legal foreign workers last year, isn't supposed to deprive any American of a job. But many businesses go to extraordinary lengths to deny jobs to U.S. workers so they can hire foreigners instead. A BuzzFeed News investigation.

When American workers showed up to apply for a job at Pro Landscape, in Hillsboro, Oregon, they were told they would have to dig a trench four feet long, a foot and a half wide, and a foot and a half deep within five minutes to be considered for the position...But the Labor Department said the tests appeared “to not be normal” for the industry and to “be restrictive to U.S. workers.”

Last year, the South Carolina watermelon and blueberry producer Coosaw Farms was sued in federal court by black workers who allege their bosses told them “colored people just don’t work as fast as Mexicans.” The suit charges that Coosaw officials called its American employees “n_____s” and made it easier for Mexican workers to meet production quotas. The farm also gave its H-2 workers access to nicer bathrooms, letting them wash their hands before lunch, the lawsuit claims.

It's bad for the people getting screwed and it's bad for the US too. So much of our modern economy is driven by immigrants yet Trump and his supporters are determined to make the US as hostile as possible to immigrants.

Those jobs and companies will just go to Canada or Europe or China instead.

Tell me, after the Mexicans and Hondurans have been deported and the tech jobs have shifted to other countries, who are the lazy and uneducated going to blame when their lives still suck?
