Yes I'm sure those Trudeau T-shirts must have heads exploding in the US.

The left is more on doing away with customs of the past. Polite society is a dinosaur.

The manager asked him to remove his hat because in Canada that hat is OFFENSIVE. Trumps bashing of Canada is fresh in Canadians minds. The manager had the other diners in mind when he asked for the cap to be removed.

The manager is being praised here in Vancouver for standing up to someone who is promoting bigotry and all Trump stands for.

Whether he should be fired or not, isn't part of the discussion here in Vancouver. The discussion is that MORE people have to speak out.

It's no longer a partisan issue. It's a societal one, where history will judge what side you are on.

He doesn't want his job back anyway, even though the owners said the manager is a good man with a big heart. Their words.

Um, what?

The hat is political. It was his campaign slogan. You can't separate the two. Nice try though.

The anger is more towards a person visiting a foreign country, and quite possibly knowing how insulting wearing a MAGA hat in Canada will be to Canadians.

What is the purpose of wearing such a hat in Canada, if not to provoke?

But Canadians are so superior to Americans, especially Trump, why 'pay any mind' to what he is saying? .

I would have served the guy with the hat until he got obnoxious -- maybe he never would have been a problem. Tthere would need to be another reason beyond the hat. If it was an intentional one-sided provocation against the establishment or the other customers I probably would have found another reason pretty fast.

I live in a very blue part of a blue state and was at a local brewpub when two Trumpers came in and took a table and were behaving themselves (no hats, no problems). Somehow they made a comment or struck up a conversation with another patron about Trump, singing his praises. The other patron proceeded to explain in a friendly and logical fashion the error of their ways. No drama or excitement but the two Trumpers just got up, paid the bill and left. The patron was one of several there that could have disagreed with the Trumpers in much the same way. I suspect these little confrontations take place everyday in many places. I know of another case that happened in Arizona -- a red state -- where it was wrongfully assumed that everyone supported Trump. Again, it was handled cordially and didn't make the headlines or Fox News. You don't have to make a big deal out of political differences.
