Having been through the L1A process personally, being illegal would have been a whole lot easier.

L1 visas still have to go through a work certification and an affidavit, so abuse has consequences if people speak up. As far as the pay, the company is required to report to Immigration the salary, along with the US equivalent as part of the investigation.

Plans are being made to take away that Obama era rule that provided work authorization for spouses.

There is also a plan being made called "Notice to appear" . So if your application is denied you have to appear before a judge.

Are you sure about the second part? I can't see where compelling someone from outside the US to appear before an immigration Judge to provide a denial is a good use of the court's time, or doesn't provide a potential hardship to an applicant. Even if it is a pending rule, I can't see it lasting on appeal.

This is the other way around. . FOr people staying in US who have the extention applications denied, they may be asked to appear before a judge and get the deportation procedures initiated.

I can understand the outrage against H-1B and L-1 visas.
But is this against immigration on the whole?
So many 7-eleven franchise are owned by Foreigners, Indian Green Card holders or Lottery winners !!! So many Motels / chain Hotels are owned by immigrants.

If the push is against immigration, I never heard about people saying anything again 7-eleven / motel ownership in the hands of foreign origin. Are they not displacing Americans from Business opportunities?

Only H-1, L-1 is being picked for criticism !!!
