Gerrymandering has been a factor in American politics from the beginning. The term itself was coined in 1812.

And the US was never meant to be a true democracy. It was designed to be an is a representative republic. And the balance of the representation reflects the main deal that was made to form the government. The less populous states were never going to let the more populous states dictate to them. If that deal wasn't made, the country would have broken up. The same stands now. The ten biggest states have half the population. The other 40 states won't be dictated to by them. If the biggest states tried to do that, either the country would fracture, or the rest of the states would subdue them, militarily if necessary.

that is why 'gerrymandering" which the GOP loves to do has been rampant in the last 10 yrs--since the census triggered the ability of state legislatures to revamp districts according to population shifts...unfortunately with BK now on the Court it seems very likely there will be no more decisions that find the GOP has gerrymandered to create districts directly to benefit the GOP...

But in reality the minority of population controls the majority of the senate--because a state like Wyoming with fewer than 300K citizens has two Senators
How many TOWNS in the United States have more than 300K residents???
That is not the only example of how states with smaller total population and conservative attitudes have equal weight with states with far greater numbers and more liberal views...

There is a terrible imbalance within the way the Constitution has overweighted some states now w/o considering how population centers would shift over the past 200 yrs.
That has played into the GOP's hands...

Personally I am all for liberals in places like CA or NY or other areas moving to states like MS or Iowa or South Dakota and working from home for a year so so to get registered and change voting patterns...

Democracy is mob rule. That is what we have been seeing being played out in the last few weeks.

Gerrymandering is used by BOTH PARTIES, not just Republicans.

All States have two Senators, and that is by design, because Senators represent the States, not the people. The Representatives of the people are in the House of Representatives, which is why it is called "the peoples house."

You need to take a civics course. Your understanding of our system and our Constitution is poor.

She will try to slip away. $1 million in GoFundMe money may have been her goal.

Perhaps she needs another 36 years to repeat the same tale twice.

She can go back to being a flying fearful, world traveler.

"Corporate Judges on supreme court"?.......... WTH, Man. You are disconnected from anything going on in America.
"Begging the donor class for money"? .......... Again, you are totally off the charts. Nothing even remotely connected to what you claim has happened.

Ellison's accusers have some pretty robust evidence, too. (By the way, are you saying Ellison should have resigned from Congress, or the DNG gig??)
This is why Ford’s claim is not believable, notwithstanding her own lack of evidence. A person who gets drunk and sexually assaults women doesn’t stop with one. Like Franken, sex offenders almost always have long histories. If Kavanaugh was doing this at 17 he would have a very long list of complaints, accusations, accusers, and evidence by now.
