You sure can tell that this president is completely bewildered and terrified by the press.
If that were true he would be running from the press and not willingly confronting them or making himself more accessible than most modern Presidents. He interacts with the press sometimes two and three times a day. My personal favorites are when he tells them, " stupid question".

You must have missed the debates, the campaign, his twitter account, and the first two years of Trump in office.
The guy owned the room during the Republican run-up - zingers, and come backs. Between Hilary, Trump, and the media moderators, the only memorable lines belong to Trump. The guy plays levels above other candidates in spinning the media - even the democrats realized it during the campaign.
The best was when as the Rep nominee he had to make a statement on some allegation and he was at Mar-o-lago. I don't recall what the issue was, but he called the press in with 24 hr notice. The event was carried live, he came in 2-3 min late. To cover the time the media extolled on the ornate room. He then spent 29 1/2 minutes extolling on Mar-o-lago and some other business venture (if I recall correctly) all live and then 15 seconds flatly denying the allegation and walked out. The talking head on the channel I was watching turned back to the camera and said to the studio something like 'I think we have been played.'

I assume this revised code of conduct includes brown nosing and butt kissing as the only acceptable behaviors. Trump can dish it out but he can't take it.
No better example of the press brown nosing than the "enchanted" question.
The press was fully engaged in brown nosing for 8 years.
They have the experience and we have the proof.

He is running from the press. He refuses to answer anything but softball questions. He's a loudmouthed bully and, as normally follows with same, an abject coward.
How you think that limiting questions is a first amendment issue is beyond me...
You are aware that Trump isn't obligated to answer any questions at all..... right?
In that case they can write what they think he might have said, and everybody's happy, right? That's the only alternate choice if he's too gutless to answer questions, unless the story should simply point out how afraid he is of the press.
