If that were true he would be running from the press and not willingly confronting them or making himself more accessible than most modern Presidents. He interacts with the press sometimes two and three times a day. My personal favorites are when he tells them, "stupid question".
Absolutely right that he's been running from the press! Have you conveniently forgotten how long he'd gone without a formal press conference? At one point, he'd only had ONE for an entire year! And have you ever, ever seen a president so rudely shutting up reporters, so evasive, so defensive? Yeah, he "interacts" with the toadies he can choose, and then neatly sidesteps any important questions.
How bizarre that you like his insultingly saying "stupid question." That implies that you enjoy having an evasive, rude, bullying president. I sure don't. By the way, would you like it if your boss, or your client, said that to you?

The "stupid question" line is Trumps lack of ability to think critically, and a defense from being asked a question that is an affront to his sensibilities. It's a cop out. Period. It's the tantrum of a old man. It's a sandbox rebuttal in a real world setting.
Same as Bolton today, saying he didn't speak Arabic as if that's some answer to the tough questions he was asked.
Low energy, low budget brains. Congrats. That's what you're idolizing.
In that case they can write what they think he might have said, and everybody's happy, right? That's the only alternate choice if he's too gutless to answer questions, unless the story should simply point out how afraid he is of the press.
Not the point.
Point is it can't be a first amendment issue if he's not even obligated to give press briefings at all.
And for the record, he takes and answers more questions than Obama ever did.

I'll stick with Trumps answer on that. I wonder if it gets better questions.
How thick headed can the press get when they ask the same question 5 times b/c they don't like the answer.
Its like journalism isn't getting the best people to put in the WH press pool.
Press briefings are always the best place to get information directly from the administration cabinet members, unfiltered by fake news censorship. Things sound really good for the economy and Kudlow put the GM thing into perspective by comparing a few thousand jobs lost to 400,000 manufacturing jobs being created and increasing GDP numbers.
I was shocked that the presstitutes behaved themselves like good little toddlers. April Ryan was pushing her luck, though. I especially enjoyed the questions asked by unfamiliar faces who never get called on, probably because Kudlow and Bolton didn't know there is a pecking order, i.e. first row gets first questions. Front row is soooo predictable. (yawn)

^Exactly this.
Today, Bolton proved himself just as daft as Trump. I couldn’t believe that’s what he was saying as a defense for not listening to that recording.

I have no idea if that’s true. The link you provided was vague on that point.
Anyway, even if it’s true, all one has to do is compare the substance of the answers. Trump literally can not provide any detail or truth to anything he says. It’s all nonsensical bluster mixed with about 100 uses of the word tremendous.

Trump makes exactly zero sense.
The difference being that most of the press willingly threw softballs at Obama his entire term and were more than happy to let him filibuster his answers on the rare occasions when he was asked anything of substance.
And none were ever as openly disrespectful as Acosta was by attempting to engage in debate on a matter of opinion and refuse to give up the mic when his question had already been answered
