Conservatives: Let the left gloat. How many times do they do this only to be slapped down later down the road?
Guaranteed Trump did not give this up without some long term vision, so let them call him stupid, let them gloat, let them think whatever they want. We will, as usual, get the opportunity to laugh in their face when, yet again, they get proven wrong.
In three weeks we might have a measure of how much damage the shutdown caused to the economy and then, maybe, adults can take over the discussion. We don't need a friggin' wall but better security and e-verify might help. We need a deterrent to keep greedy employers from profiting from illegals at Trump resorts or elsewhere.

Lefties: Go ahead with your insults.
Righties: Just wait.
Haha - Trump has a VISION? Only about how he can make money...never for this country - just how to wring more money out of our country at our expense. Oh yeah, "MAKE MEXICO PAY FOR IT".
Trump needed a way to step back from his wall demands, and this was the only thing he could find.
But with 3 weeks to distract the nation away from the wall and turn it to something else he cooks up, he'll let the wall fade away quietly if he can. And he now knows shutting the govt. down isn't such a hot strategy after all, so he's not going to try that again.
All in all, that's a pretty good deal for both sides. The biggest outcome from all this unnecessary mess is Congress is now beginning to act as a Congress should in both houses. Both Houses have considerable powers of their own, and they will have to flex their muscles a show their independence from the White House before 2020 or face the voters for their compliant submission to Trump's chaos.
Trump really needed his choke chain jerked a few times. He needed to learn the limits of his powers, and the correction was too long in the coming, but it finally happened.
So that was good too. Never refuse the possible for the perfect.
No one gets perfection very often, but the possible often gives what is needed, if not what is wanted.
A little concession does no harm. Give a little, get a little, and things will start to become more stable once more.
