Based upon Pence’s assurances that Trump would sign, the Senate and House agreed to a CR on 12/19 that would keep the government open till 2/8. Then non - elected partisan opinionators, Coulter, Limbaugh and Ingraham ripped Trump a new one.

Trump changed his mind and what would become the longest shutdown in history began on 12/22.

And 35 days later, here we are back where it could have been had Trump not renigged on the original CR.

During the 2013 shutdown, Trump said “shutdowns are the failure of the president to lead”.

Trump played a game of chicken and lost, and it was all for what?
I have no confidence that a magical plan is coming that will blow him away. It will be the same plans he rejected over a month ago, proving this was all for nothing.

If Republican Congressmen wanted a wall then it would have passed the senate last year. You want a wall then do it the right way and get it through congress.

Donald Trump

On Airforce one
Reporter: Did you know about the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels?

Trump: No.

Reporter: Then why did Michael Cohen make this, if there was no truth to the allegations.

Trump: Well, you’ll have to ask Michael Cohen. Michael is my attorney and you’ll have to ask Michael Cohen.

Later he said it was just a simple transaction.

THis is looking like the Kavanguh situation all over again....Dems cried and cried for an "investigation"...GOP gave them the brief investigation, and Kavanaugh was later confirmed.

THis time around...Dems cried and cried about the "shut down"...the Pres/GOP "open it" back up (temporarily) , the GOP is doing that. now...let's wait and see if they get what they want at the end like they did with Kavanaugh.

We've seen this story already.

Everyone here does realize that, right?
It does not matter how you try to spin it. Trump lied about Mexico paying for the wall. He said Mexico agreed to pay for it and Mexico said they didn't Now we are forced to pay for it under his false emergency declaration. It's not about the wall in my eye's it boils down to who is going to be responsible for paying for it and maintaining it's inadequacy. At the end of the day a wall by itself isn't going to stop anything.

Where are the details. Or is this just another Trump get rich scheme. Get 5.7 - 7 billion and contract it out to Trump Org. associates to funnel back into Trump Org accounts.

Trump has no choice at this point.

Pelosi could give him his SOTU now, or make him wait until there is a permanent end to this. Trump made a statement in his 'speech' that pretty much precludes his ability to declare a national emergency in three weeks. He said he "chose not to declare an emergency now."

So good luck arguing there is an emergency in 3 weeks.

And if he ends up shutting down the government again--he really could be impeached--due to popular opinion.

i put ok but i think its too early to tell. if he uses this as an excuse to say he tried and then goes nuclear and uses the emergency declaration, i would be very happy with that. if he caves again its prelude to a political disaster for the orange man.
