"President Trump on Monday embraced a proposal from lawmakers in six states that would allow public schools to offer Bible literacy classes shortly after the subject was discussed on "Fox & Friends."
"Numerous states introducing Bible Literacy classes, giving students the option of studying the Bible. Starting to make a turn back? Great!" Trump wrote on Twitter."
We know he doesn't care about that sort of thing in reality, and that is the appeal. I appreciate Trump because he isn't a religious fundamentalist and could care less about that nonsense. Of course, like all politicians, he now has to pretend from time to time.
You have no problem with Democrats pretending to care about things, and using people for decades.
Being literate in the Bible and the Quran and other major religious texts would just make pupils more worldly. I'm for it, especially since the Bible is selectively quoted all the time.
Touts? He said Great in a tweet. Oh wait it was Great!
The article also said the classes would focus on historical significance.
Personally, I dont think schools offering a religious literacy class would be so bad as long as it covered major religions and focused on historical significance.
The Bible has no historical significance. It’s pretty much all a figment of Moses’s and Paul’s imagination.
It should be laughed out of any school that isn’t a divinity school.
If the Bible is actually historically correct, then the two religions it represents are scarier than I already imagined. I hope like hell that none of that stuff is true.
What's the purpose of churches? Isn't Sunday School still taught in churches?
That's particularly funny coming from Trump, who not only is apparently non-religious, but who also epitomizes so many bad traits that should revolt supposed Christians - greed, mendacity, fornication, cruelty, and whatever the opposite of charity is.
I have no problem with kids learning about all the major religions of the world but leave it until high school.
