scientific consensus says that we are in an inter-glacial period

scientific consensus says that eventually (5000-25000 years from now) we will emerge into a glacial period.... naturally

scientific consensus says that mans contribution is less than 5%
Point 1: OK
Point 2: Scientific consensus is that human activity is accelerating warming beyond what would be expected naturally
Point 3: Perhaps
Point 4: Then I take it your "solution" is to simply wait 5000 - 25000 years for a glacial period to occur to offset the current man-made warming? OK.
Point 5: False. https://skepticalscience.com/human-c...-emissions.htm https://www.ucsusa.org/global-warmin...to-gw-faq.html

Well in fact that is one of the solutions that has been urged - stop clear cutting the rain forests because doing so is one of the contributors to climate change. If we just stopped clearing the forests and started planting trees as you suggest, it would not be enough by itself to stop climate change, but is a step in the right direction. Of course, this would have negative economic impacts in places like Brazil so, just like any other solution, there are trade-offs to be made.

We are NOT entering a solar minimum! We are already there! The new spots with the right magnetic configuration for Cycle 25 have already started appearing, as of last October. We'll be back at the solar sun spot maximum in about 5 or 6 years.

That will be great for Ham Radio guys like me, but has ZERO effect on the climate.

Geezz...
It's not the sun's "output" that causes global cooling during a grand solar minimum, the retreat of the sun's magnetic field causes Earth's volcanoes to erupt, and the ash in the atmosphere cools the planet. Japanese researchers concluded that the increase in cosmic rays hitting Earth's magma triggers the eruptions, NASA researchers concluded that a minute change in Earth's rotation speed does it. So there is disagreement in the mechanisms that grand solar minimums cause volcanoes to erupt but the correlation is clear.

Could solar minimum put AGW on ice?

Not hard to put something on ice, that never happened in the first place.

Or were you referring to climate change NOT caused by man? That happens all the time, and has ever since the planet has had a climate. And solar flares, solar radiation etc. has often had a lot to do with it.

So sure, a solar minimum (if we're in one) could certainly cool things off.

We had an extreme spike in temps in 2016 and the world fell back a little since then. As the chart shows, modest cooling follows a heat spike. But the long-term upward climb is obvious and unmistakable.
You do realize we are talking 1 degree in 100 years. You'd need to go back 1000's of years to see if there is a natural trend.

I've never understood the phrase "climate change". The climate has never stopped changing. It is the natural order of things. To say we have "climate change" is saying that nothing out of the ordinary is happening.

OK ... as long as it's from a scientific paper ... I bet they even had white lab coats.
You really don't know what a theory in science means do you?

The University of California, Berkley, defines a theory as "a broad, natural explanation for a wide range of phenomena. Theories are concise, coherent, systematic, predictive, and broadly applicable, often integrating and generalizing many hypotheses." https://www.livescience.com/21491-wh...of-theory.html

If global warming changes to global cooling, will the Left be encouraging everyone to burn fossil fuels? Will solar panels and wind turbines be banned?

True, but specially, it’s accelerated climate change.

It’s changing at a rate that life cannot adapt.

Naturally it would be caused by things like volcanic activity at a huge level, or an asteroid impact.

So far that hasn’t happened for a loooong time...

If rapid warming is needed, we can release more methane.
