China literally does not even have a plan for being in this position.

Trump has given Xi an ultimatum. Xi either caves to the ultimatum & shows weakness, which is unacceptable. Or, he gets another massive wave of tariffs imposed, which guarantees Western business will leave China & the cratering Chinese economy can not withstand.
Trump and Xi will have an extended meeting at the G-20 in Japan. Lighthizer and the Panda negotiators will be meeting before the G-20 .... so you are correct on the "meet" part, BUT I think you are NOT correct on the part about forcing China to show "weakness" -- the Art of a good negotiation is to at least give the perception of Win-Win. Trump will praise Xi.

Trump and Xi Agree to Discuss Trade at Next Week’s G-20 Summit in Japan |Wall Street Journal
In a Twitter message on Tuesday, Mr. Trump said he had a “very good” telephone conversation with Mr. Xi, setting the stage for a summit on the sidelines of the Group of 20 leading global economies meeting in Osaka.

“We will be having an extended meeting next week at the G-20 in Japan,” the president tweeted. “Our respective teams will begin talks prior to our meeting.”

The news, confirmed by Beijing, came after six weeks of rising trade tensions between the two nations, which were thought to be near an accord before talks broke down in early May.

Lighthizer says US and China talking again on trade |Washington Examiner - 6/19/19
Lighthizer said that he had scheduled a "conversation" with an official for this week to lay the groundwork for a planned meeting between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G-20 summit in Osaka, Japan at the of the month. Lighthizer said he and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin would follow-up with additional meetings with his counterparts.

What Trump's done is try to forge a relationship with KJU, treating him with respect, in order to sway NK to the light side, so they align with us, not China. That's what the purging of the NK generals was about while KJU was in Viet Nam for the meeting with Trump. Surprise China, the generals you installed to control KJU are gone! That's what the letters are about. China can't hack a letter to see what they're talking about. NK is nopt about peace negotiations, it's a hostage negotiation.

The way we will achieve peace in NK is when the tariffs on China have been so devastating that China sees NK as their only bargaining chip which allows them to save face. In the meantime, they haven;t fired a missile over their neighbors, or threatened us, they freed our prisoners & returned the remains of our soldiers. That's certainly worth something, short term.
And you are absolutely correct about North Korea - Interesting development today on that front. Xi is making a historic trip to North Korea AND the South Korea State Newspaper published an Editorial written by Xi is their media today.

Xi firmly backs Pyongyang's effort to solve Korea Peninsula issues: Rodong Sinmun, reported by Reuters
SEOUL (Reuters) - Chinese President Xi Jinping said in an op-ed in North Korean state newspaper Rodong Sinmun on Wednesday that China supports North Korea's "correct direction" in politically resolving issues on the Korean Peninsula.

The front-page op-ed is an honor rarely granted to foreign leaders and comes a day before Xi is set to visit Pyongyang on Thursday and Friday at the invitation of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, making him the first Chinese leader to visit in 14 years.

China was very angry when North Korea carried out nuclear tests without notifying them and joined the sanction.
North Korea is far from obedient too. Their state-run newspaper often criticizes China for betraying socialism.
You must be fond of Panda Talk and believe all the Kabuki Theater.

There are a lot of plates spinning in the air for China - it's been a rough couple of months.

1) US Sanctions
2) US Tariffs
3) Companies fleeing China
4) Massive Huawei problems and LOSS of revenue
5) Hong Kong riots over the China Extradition proposal -- now postponed
6) Favorite Panda Hostage .... North Korea

We have no idea how all this will turn out, but there can be no question that the screws have been tightening from several directions on the Panda and he feels the squeeze.

My best guess ..... we will soon see North Korea back at the negotiation table and that the Panda may have figured out that President Trump is both in it for the long haul and that US Polls are no more to be trusted in 2019 than they were in 2016.

TeamTrump raised $24.8 MILLION dollars in the last 24 hours and had 100,000 people attempting to get into his Presidential Re-Election Launch party. Doesn't sound a lot like a "loser" to Normal People.

It’s up to Democrats to show Trump records on trade talks, dealings with NK. That’s coming up during election. This G20 summit isn’t the first of its kind, certainly will not be the last.

I think Xi will not take any further action until election is over next year. He wants Trump running the country.

Hyperbole? Well, the most recent announcement by Broadcom, for instance, said that they expect to be out a cool 2 billion in revenue on an annual basis. That's the other thing, there are also a lot of indirect revenue losses in addition to the direct. I guess to you 2 billion is pocket change.

There is an expression (in another language) about misguided motto, with a loose translation like this:

It is not important for me to do well, it is important for (enter name) to do poorly...

So Obama, Clinton and Bush rolling over and letting China cheat on trade and currency manipulation is the "liberal solution"?

Liberals are always wrong

We have had failed trade policies with China for the last 25 years which has led to this situation. The Chinese have been trained to believe that they can conduct illegal trade and currency policies with no consequences.

Now we finally have a POTUS who has the balls to actually force China to participate in trade agreements fairly, or suffer the consequences. The "bully" here is China, not Trump.

To simply roll over and play dead will lead to deeper and deeper economic consequences for the west. We are in a position of strength now, in which we can force China to play fair. If they do not, their economy will collapse.

This is how you deal with bullies- Trump is speaking the only language the Chinese understand.

The idea that Trump has "balls" is just ridiculous. When push comes to shove, he backs down.

Trump is a blowhard and Xi knows it.

He bullies people who are in a weaker position, and sucks up to those in a stronger position.

But "balls?"

No sign of those.

I thought we were this close to a tremendous trade agreement with China.

What happened?

Did the trade talks fall apart?

He wants Trump running the country because it is bad for us and good for China.

OMG what you said has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.

I suggest you read North Korean official news occasionally, to have an insight about their policies and attitudes.

China went back on everything that has been worked out.

They're hoping Trump loses so they can go back to screwing us. They're holding out hopes of anybody but Donald.
