I found a local news report with a more complete video. The security guard was on a power trip or nuts. IMO, he is the type of person who should not have a weapon. I’m still curious if it is common for officers to go out on disability claiming ptsd after a gun is pulled on them.
Thats just stupid. You know you would never push the story if the roles were flipped and push more racial tension, so why do it now? Thats just a sign of a hypocrite and you're simply playing into the hands of the right wing.
What is most crazy to me about the situation is the fact that it involves a security guard and a deputy sheriff, who are supposed to be on the same side. It is YOU who are most concerned with the racial part of it. Remember when you point a finger, 3 more point back at you.

I blame the cop for his over the top response, yes. Pulling a gun out and pointing it at someone should be done as the very last resort if a risk is present.

To me, the issue is the fact that it was pulled by a security guard that followed him as a police officer and the gun was to his back. Further, the guard attempted to stop him from leaving and to arrest him.
Currently, it doesn't seem like it was racially-motivated. However, that doesn't justify what happened. Did Gaston actually suffer emotional and psychological distress from this to warrant a suit? That is also hard to say.

The cop should have been arrested. He broke the law.

If that's true-I have to wonder if he didn't stage this entire event in an effort to scam money he did not earn. Pure speculation. If so, the security guard will soon be able to enjoy the fruits of everything that the LEO owns. Further he should be subjected to federal hate-crime and civil rights violation charges. He sure didn't take long trying to score a payday.

The bigger question is, why does he have "PTSD" anyway? The police pull guns on people on a regular basis-does everyone they draw on sue for PTSD? He didn't "suffer" any more than they did.
Like I say, I'll wait until more video comes out before making a firm stand. Given that 911 was called on the officer, the fact that he played the "race card" when there was ZERO evidence of it (from what we've seen) and that he BROKE THE LAW that he should have been aware of (just as every concealed carrier is)-my bet is either the entire thing was a money scam-or he was arrogant and thought he could ignore the law due to POC privilege and a badge and didn't expect to get called out. BUT-that's just one theory-lets see more video. I could be completely wrong-and as someone that supports LE, I hope I am.
