The tweet, by Innovation Nation's Allie Ward, took issue with the Pourtions line of portion control plates, indicating portions appropriate for mom jeans, skinny jeans, and favorite jeans.

In her tweet, she wanted the plates banned, in all 50 states. She thinks they promote "body shaming."

Some people have no sense of humor:

Wasn't Obama accused of wearing mom jeans? He's skinny.

I don't get it.

The idea of plates which help with portion control isn't a new one. These put a humorous spin on that. Sadly, some have no sense of humor, and the offending items must be BANNED.

I understand the attempted humor.

What I don't understand is the connection of mom jeans with giant portions of food.

Sure, let's celebrate eating disorders! Hooray!

Good for Macy's. Eating disorders are not funny. Not only do these plates engage in body shaming for those wearing "mom jeans", but also perpetuate the shame often felt by people with anorexia/bulimia who might think the "skinny jeans" circle is too much food.

Maybe people need a little shaming to eat more healthy portions and lead more healthy lives.

My wife says that I am a "finisher", meaning once my plate is empty I am usually full. Instead of using a full size dinner plate, my meals are served on a desert plate. It appears that I have a full plate of food and am satisfied when done.
