So while Trump is trying to help them, many on the left are trying to eliminate it in America.
Of course that will not stop other countries from using it, and they will either mine it themselves or buy it from other nations that will.
But at least the leftists will feel good about destroying an industry that will be going on well beyond our lifetimes.
And you can say this about lumber and paper mills, smelters, the list goes on and on. Most coal miners are employed in skilled positions. Mechanics, welders, machine operators etc. They'll be able to find similar jobs but for same salary or where they live.
That's fantastic. Then they never needed those federally funded retraining programs and they shouldn't be stopping the coal trains because they aren't getting paid. There will be no need for "aid" or anything else for them because they can just go get another job right now.

The poor working people always pay for the bad politics. I hope there is a way out - the coalminers kept America warm and moving for decades. May not be best energy but fraking is not either. Sigh

Maybe the travel agents and baggage handlers did too. Times change. But glad to hear their skills are easily transferable to other jobs in the same area and they will be just fine. That is good news and a relief we won't need to be paying coal miner welfare too (beyond Disability and black lung).
Yeah, things change and it can be painful, no doubt. It's similar for all the jobs that will be lost to automation. Things are changing very fast. I think the best thing people can do in this world is develop a wide and varied set of skills. This is no longer a world where you can safely put all your eggs in one basket.

Your hate for blue collar workers and rural people today in this and other threads is beyond disgusting.Some of your electric is still coal powered as we advance to new sources.Those men with black lung raised you in comfort grasshopper when it was all that was available.So save the hate and show some compassion to those you at one time depended on.
