This crazy idea about illegals being recruited into the Democratic party reminds me of those Catholics who used to think that Mexican immigration would save the church from plummeting membership, only to see that the larger percentage of Latin American immigrants were practically unchurched already and many joined Pentecostal and other Protestant churches after arrival. You of all people know that aliens don't vote, legal or illegal. Hell, more American citizens who are eligible didn't vote than voted for either major party candidate in the last presidential election! That includes an enormous number of Hispanics. If we were to count the 'no' votes as a choice, the group that supported Trump would be a distant third.

The penalties for casting an illegal vote can be very severe (illegal immigrants could be deported after jail), the rewards virtually nil. It's like buying a lottery ticket, almost no chance of affecting the outcome and no direct benefit. BTW, newcomers to the country often have difficulty following the ins and out of American politics, coming from an experience totally different.

You only need a few hundred in Florida to swing a Presidential election in 2000, even less than that in these contested districts.
The mere presence of illegal immigrants also has an effect. Based on one estimate California will lose 5 house seats/EC votes, Texas 2, NY 1, WA 1 and Florida 1 based on the legal population. All 10 would go to red/purplish states all of which voted for Trump last election, his margin of victory increases by 14 EC votes.
If you live in one these states you have been robbed of House seat and EC vote by the illegal population.
Iowa, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.

Voter suppression my a**! Democrats just want to make sure that illegal aliens will be able to vote in our elections. If Texas goes blue it will be directly due to that since it is highly populated with Hispanics and many there illegally which allows their ethnic group to get more representation aka more electoral votes for Texas.
