Texas going blue?

Keep your pants on, everybody.

What's likely to happen is a handful of TX House seats will change from Pub to Dem next year. And it's likely the Dems will pick up a few seats in the state legislature, too.

At best, TX will be a little lighter shade of red, is all.

But over the next decade or so, it could become purple.

Global warming is becoming a concern here.

Look at FL the last few decades. Heck even Cali was red in 2008 when it voted against gay marriage

A couple articles, including a good one at 538, are addressing this.

Not to say it's all going to happen in one election, but it is well underway. I think 3 GOP Congress Critters are resigning because their districts are likely to go Blue (Hillary actually won them!) and they see the writing on the wall.

Odds still favor Orange Man for POTUS, but the House members from TX are likely to swing more blue each election and it is going to be difficult for the state to have the Rabid Effect it has has in the past on DC Politics because "For the People" means that their representatives should be listened to.

"Recent Republican congressional retirements have stoked party concerns, particularly the surprising Thursday announcement by a rising star, Rep. Will Hurd, that he would not seek reelection in his highly competitive district"

"A Quinnipiac poll released in June found that 48 percent of Texans approved of Trump’s job performance while 49 percent said they disapproved. That poll also found that Trump is effectively tied in Texas with several of the top contenders in the Democratic race."

I'm not predicting a Trump loss there....but, wow, the GOP is going to have to spend, spend, spend in places that it can usually overlook and that's not going to help them any with the national scene.

"Cruz said those figures should alarm Republicans nationally about Democratic turnout in 2020 "

Cruz may be a horrible person....but one thing he is not is stupid.

This is a state that discussed leaving the Union recently.....this sheds some light on how big of a deal this is. I suppose we might hear talk about the state breaking into pieces next as I cannot imagine that the Establishment will take this sitting down!
Right now, places like Florida, Georgia, and Texas are in play. Why? The high cost of living in the North is driving many to sunbelt regions. High cost of living is driving plenty of black folks to move to ancestral lands of the South like Georgia. Plenty of Trump supporters possibly in the millions have died off, while newly immigrants who became Americans who live in such states can now vote. Puerto Ricans who left the island and relocated to Florida can not vote in elections. Other states in play is Arizona, and Virginia.

Climate change is a big issue and it can hurt our farmers, and the farming industry which is part of the Republican party economic system. Along with soy bean issue with China is causing many farmers to lose money. This can persuade farmers to vote Dem in the next couple of years. Sadly with all of those white educated young adults moving to NYC, Chicago, SF for work. These types can not change Illonois, California and NY to turn red. I do see California turning red if the California does not get its tax situation straightened out.

It’s far easier to be a victim and a freeloader than to make it on your own.

The entire country will turn blue eventually.

The biggest shift in Texas is generally occurring in the higher income suburban areas, Tom Delay's old seat is now competitive.....

Trump is for corporations. Like most on the right. A snake oil populist, doing the corporatists bidding, all while putting trillions on the national credit card for future generations to pay off.

Texas is getting more purple. I think 2024 or 2028 will begin the start of it being a swing state. Expect the white power structure there and everywhere else to abandon the democratic process as their power slips away.

Demographic change will change America as we know it. It will slip further left until socialism is reached. The future reeks of Venezuela , Central America, mexico at best. But hey, the “white power structure” right?

Democrats want open borders and eliminating voter registration laws so they can guarantee Texas and Arizona will be solid blue states. Not to mention all the floods of liberals moving out of their states to red states.
