The Amazon rainforest (lungs of the Earth) is burning and our golfer-in-chief doesn’t seem to think it’s important. Made an excuse that he had a meeting with Germany and India...but those leaders also attended too!
Stop regurgitating talking points. "lungs of the Earth" is being parroted everywhere, the MSM, social media, etc. Be original and think for yourself. If a mere 20% is considered the "lungs" we are in deep trouble.
He can’t do anything about a fire in Brazil. Also, aggressively fighting forest fires is not a good idea. It creates conditions for even larger fires like we are seeing in California.
"lungs of the earth" ....WTF , who keeps coming up with these asinine terms ?
While very important, the forests of the Amazon rank 4th on the list. Russia has double the amount. The globe has 39,000,000 km2 of forest area, the Amazon is made up of 4,776,980 km2
Scientists say about 25% of the oxygen on earth is provided by the Amazon. I don't care which leader or country does what, but somebody has to do something.

Then why did he issue a public statement saying he offered help to Brazil?
"Just spoke with President @JairBolsonaro of Brazil. Our future Trade prospects are very exciting and our relationship is strong, perhaps stronger than ever before. I told him if the United States can help with the Amazon Rainforest fires, we stand by ready to assist!
Trump usually darts out on the last day.
Trump is not a good traveler -- by his own admittance. He's a homebody who needs the comforts of HIS home, food, etc.
AND he's old and gets tired and loses attention span.
My spin has as much credibility as yours -- but mine suits me better.

Hard to believe that people don't believe scientists anymore.
Hard to believe that people don't believe scientists anymore.
It's crazy, isn't it?
There have always been certifiable nutbags like Alex Jones who play a character on TV and sell crazy conspiracy theories to low-IQ Americans, that's nothing new. But Trump has taken the voice of those weirdos and made it mainstream.
He's adding fuel to the fire of all the tinfoil nutters out there who are now LITERALLY saying that scientific facts are fake news.
You've got people out there who truly believe the Earth is flat. What the hell is going on?! It's so sad and depressing to watch the dumbing down of our society.
The farmers set the fires to clear the fields of weeds for planting...it's spring
that many fires don't spontaneously start for no reason
..3 years ago the fires were more and bigger
news media click bait
ACTUALLY -- how do you know those fires were started by farmers....the media......
YES there is no question that the fires are a result of farmers clearing brush...BUT the dry weather means the fires got out of hand
(Did you know MOST wild fires are caused by humans).
AND --- those concerned about the damaging impact to the Amazon -- and eventually the planet, say that education is needed to educate the farmers.
That's the thing -- the Amazon is important and many of those farmers don't know the significance of it on the planet. They need to be educated about it, given more effective tools, methods, etc.
And that's part of what the G7 leaders would have been talking about.
And even if the situation could have been worse in the past....does that mean NOW that we are better informed we should dismiss any potential damage.
