Netanyahu Pledges to Annex West Bank

No surprise there.

He'll need to act fast, while Trump is still in the white house. Now what to do with all of those pesky Christians and Muslims living there ?

This sure is one way to bring on Armageddon, so Evangelical/fundamentalists must be getting excited.

Exactly. We should not be covering for their sorry butts. They need to pay for their own mistakes.

Good. If Hamas and the PLO can't or won't control the region, they have no business overseeing it.

Israel should have annexed it years ago.

Absolutely... and under Israel control the west bank will prosper, for all. For purposes of comparison use Gaza.

For all? Doubtful. Annexation is pushed by an Israeli Far Right that has no intention of extending citizenship to resident Palestinians. A solution to the "voting issue" is to annex land encircling Palestinian areas, dividing them and destroying any hopes of a Palestinian State. But then at the same time bestowing some sort of nominal home-rule on the Palestinian townships denying them any real participation in an Israeli state.

Even now, Israeli-controlled areas act as a geographical barrier to Palestinian economic growth with future population pressure an issue. Trying to put two populations - continued Israeli settlement - into the same space as non-citizen Palestinians while at the same time remaining divided will prove a challenge. A number of years ago, Israel looked into trying to develop two separate road systems but finally rejected the idea as impractical.

Israel must be willing to pay an certain price in world criticism, and potentially local unrest.

Christian and Arab Israeli citizens have the same rights as Jews. There is no such thing as palestinian people and never was a nation or state. They are a "created" people. Gaza is equivalent to a neighborhood, a really bad lawless neighborhood and reminds me of the movie "Escape from New York". Completely surrounded by a wall from Israel and Egypt.

Saying the palestinians are entitled to a nation state is like saying people of Appalachia are entitled to their own state. They're just a bunch of hillbillies.

True that, but then see the above.

Actually, the possibility of a nation state no doubt is already past. That painfully negotiated, long anticipated solution no longer possible.
