Let's take a look at this!

Alabama, 8 votes 'Nay' out of 8 Gov. Wallace DEMOCRAT
Arkansas, 4 votes 'Nay' out of 4 Gov. Faubus DEMOCRAT
Florida, 1 vote 'Yea', 11 votes 'Nay' out of 12 Gov. Bryant DEMOCRAT

Texas, 1 'No vote', 4 votes 'Yea', 18 votes 'Nay' out of 23 Gov. Connally DEMOCRAT

I'm sure you were attempting to mislead readers into thinking those are RED states, but in 1964 they were all BLUE states which actually backs up the assertion that it was the Democrats who were AGAINST the civil rights act!

They always were and still are the racists! The only "switch" that happened is when Johnson decided to take a different approach and created the Welfare State...he even gloated that it would have those N*****s voting for us for the next 200 years!

THAT's your Democrats...the party that thinks just because your skin is darker, you should all think and act a certain way...and they expect you to vote a certain way too! If you don't they threaten to take away your goodies and kick you off the plantation!

Just remember:

Quote:
Abolitionist and civil rights activist Frederick Douglass summarized the disturbing trend in “An Address at the Graves of the Unknown Dead,” delivered in Arlington, Virginia, in 1871.

“We are sometimes asked, in the name of patriotism, to forget the merits of this fearful struggle, and to remember, with equal admiration, those who struck at the nation's life, and those who struck to save it—those who fought for slavery, and those who fought for liberty and justice,” he said.

Disclaiming any intent to peddle malice, he nonetheless vowed, “[M]ay my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I forget the difference between the parties to that bloody conflict.” For Douglass, forgetting the war made a mockery of Union sacrifice. “I say that, if this war is to be forgotten, I ask, in the name of all things sacred, what shall men remember?”

Democrat party was the party of racial division, and still is today. Look at their policies and propositions... Reparations based on race, grading students based on race, pretty much everything revolves around skin color in democrat minds.

Democrats do not want society to progress and move forward. They want to divide and conquer America, and turn it into a socialist wasteland where the majority has nothing, and the government has everything, including all the power. Much like the Soviet Union, they want to use racism and social strife as a means to their desired end.

Oops! Yesterday was New Years Day, not OPPOSITE DAY, Andy!

Let's see what Frederick Douglass has to say on the matter...
"to enslave every American", please grow up!

Basically giving themselves permission to hold everyone down with their garbage socialist ideas and values, under the guise of promoting equality.
"Shame on democrats for promoting slavery and racial division then and now" and creating the KKK, which they never want to talk about when it comes to the slave issue.

The Republicans in threads like these are so brainwashed they don't even realized their attacking conservatism just because conservatism could be found more in the Democratic party at the time than the Republican, big government/ big city, anti-states rights policies.
"It's funny" you don't understand words have changed their meanings over time.

I was thinking the same, this belonged in the history thread. Another weak attempt to claim that republicans are all inclusive, boy has the party of Lincoln change over the last 150 years.

City-Data has a History thread as well where more knowledge posts reside...interestingly one thread started in 2007 shows that some of this bad info has been put out in the last few years...
" that the right-wing talk shows spew out...." and the left-wing talk shows DON'T do the same thing?

Me thinks you are very BIASED!

No ones saying they are all inclusive but you. In this entire thread you and only you are saying it. That's because the ones who care about the truth, the ones who are being honest in this thread, are factually pointing out that the democrats owned Jim Crow, that the Democrat party is the party that voted for and backed bigotry. The evidence and the facts tell us this.
