He got a different job. CBS fired him and Cumulus Media picked him up. I just looked it up - the guy who fired him from CBS was Les Moonves who later got cancelled himself by metoo!
Cancel culture has been around pretty much forever. Just a modern spin on shunning and ostracizing...magnified by how stupid comments now spread around the world on social media...to be shamed by the world rather than laughed off by your friends and neighbors.
You guys need to read up on what Cancel Culture is.
It is not a about events not wanting to hold at places that do not share their values.
It is not about friends and neighbors shunning you.
What it is really about is forcing companies to boycott a company/group/person or else they will be boycotted. That was not very common in America until recently.
I keep seeing people say how bad cancel culture is but they aren't saying how we can do it. I think it started in 2007 when Don Imus got fired. I was appalled that he got fired for telling jokes. Are there any laws that could be passed to end it? I think strengthening free speech on college campuses would help. I read the Goldwater Institute proposed laws a few years ago:
Another idea is to make political affiliation a protected class so you can't be fired for unpopular political views. The only three jurisdictions in the United States that explicitly bans political affiliation and activity discrimination are California, D.C., and New York.
Any other ideas? Or do you like cancel culture?
Get into a time machine and and arrange for Joseph McCarthy to be free to do his job.
Observing their misbehavior and corruption today, it is no surprise that the Press was against him.

That's not new either. Groups like American Family Association even made such efforts official with non-profit status and a boycott list including boycotts of places that refuse to join the boycott. It's just more widespread via social media but the concept is not new, it's ancient.

Interesting. But as you mention, it was not very widespread and the only major success I can see, is that they got 7-Eleven to stop selling Playboy and Penthouse magazines.
Todays Cancel Culture can force megacorporation like Facebook to follow their commands. The people who want to cancel other people have always existed, but before social media they did not have the power to do effective boycotts.
