Will speak later.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has agreed to resign, his office said Thursday, ending an unprecedented political crisis over his future that has paralyzed Britain's government.

An official in Johnson's Downing Street office confirmed the prime minister would announce his resignation later. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement had not yet been made.

Johnson had rebuffed calls by his Cabinet to step down in the wake of ethics scandals. He gave in after more than 40 ministers quit his government and told him to go.

Been a while coming.

On a completely unrelated note, the dude looks like he sleeps in a dumpster.

There's also rumours that Keir Starmer, the Labour Leader and Deputy Labour Leader Angela Rayner may also have to resign over Beergate, and that they are allegedly appealing a fixed notice penalty in relation to a Covid fine in Durham. If found guilty they said they would resign.

However pressure is mounting on Starmer and Rayner, as Durham Constabulary have asked a witness if they are prepared to give evidence in court.

So there could be both a Conservative and Labour leadership contest.

As for Chris Pincher, who likes to pinch men's bottoms, he's being investigated by the police.

Boris supposedly lied about not knowing about previous allegations of a sexual nature regarding Pincher, who he made a Chief Whip, which is someone responsible for MP's welfare and to make sure they toe the party line when voting.

Boris supposedly said 'Pincher by name, Pincher by nature' and laughed the allegations off, hoping Pincher's behaviour would improve, however there have been new sexual assault allegations regarding Pincher.

It seems the Pincher scandal on top of the partygate scandal during Covid, was just too much, and the Conservative Party had finally had enough of Boris not being truthful and of his apologies.

As for the entire farcical events, you could make up this nonsense.

I don’t believe for a moment that this has anything to do with parties during the peak of the CoViD crisis.

Nor a significant change in economic or foreign policy.

What is really going on here besides personal power struggles?

Seems like drama business as usual in political theater, UK style maybe, but still soap opera.

Anything of real policy substance?

I never quite grasped how their PM is selected, from what I understand the party that has the most seats in Parliament selects one of their member to be PM they're not elected by the people. Am I correct in this logic?

From the Wall Street Journal ——

LONDON—Boris Johnson will step down as British prime minister on Thursday, government officials said, following a wide-scale rebellion in his party, capping an astonishing fall from grace for a politician who until recently looked poised to dominate U.K. politics for years.

The step comes after an extraordinary 36 hours in British politics in which more than 50 ministers and senior government aides resigned, leaving the British government in a state of paralysis. Mr. Johnson will stay in office until a successor has been found, the officials said, a process that could take some months.

This is what it should be — Boris Johnson is kicked to the curb by his own Party.
He doesn’t have a Lap Dog Media to protect him.

Boris is a nutter. Can't imagine anybody thinking he was a good choice.

"He will be great!” said no intelligent person...

The parties were at HIS house.
He admitted it.
But you don't think he had anything to do with them?
