If Americans are truly in favor of this bill....then they truly have drank to Kool-Aid.
this bill is garbage, even left leaning Wharton has analyzed it, and found it will NOT lower inflation as it is so titled
As I said in the OP, I agree the title is ridiculous. Obviously the bill has little to do with fighting inflation and the title is just a gimmick. But I think it's a good bill regardless of its title. If they were gonna give it a gimmicky title they should have at least called it something like "The Way Forward Bill."
Maybe they should call it, "Baby Build Back Better." Would be a much better name than “The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022,†which is a really boring name. That way you could call it "Biden's Baby Build Back Better," or "Quintuple-B" for short!
Presuming it passes the hurtles listed in the article, and presuming Joe Manchin doesn't change his mind at the last minute (again!), this would mean . . . . . . . the Socialist Utopia is at hand!
Schumer found Manchin's price. Seems like Manchin is reversing his position? Ever drive in West Virginia? There are Byrd four lane short ways to nowhere. And the pork barrel rolls on.
I agree. There is some angling going on there that isn't entirely fair or transparent in it's claims.
Another thing to consider from the article:
Corporations are going to pass that cost along folks, they always do. (I can show you the formula lol)
So, this is going to cause more price increases and inflation.
^^^ nailed it! I own a corporation, & this is what I do any time any cost goes up....I add it to my pricing. Why should I take profit cut, when I can just make my clients pay for any new costs?
You'd all do the same..if you could. Whether its new taxes, existing taxes being increased, inflation driving up my cost of goods sold...I just add it all into my price to my clients. In the end, consumers pay it all.

it doesn't matter what they call it, it does nothing in what they are wanting
it does nothing to reduce inflation
it does nothing to reduce the deficit, or the debt
it does nothing to reduce the cost of medicines, as one program can NOT negotiate over other programs...discriminatory therefore unconstitutional
it does nothing to reduce carbon, which is NOT the main greenhouse gas...that would be methane, and water vapor
it does nothing to reduce the dependency on oil and oil products (which includes the keyboards we are both typing on)
its a gimmicky kool-aid SPENDING bill that will INCREASE inflation and taxes on the poor/middleclass

I believe we've debated this before, or maybe it was someone else. But why couldn't you just go out of business against a competitor who does take a profit cut? You can't just make your clients pay more ad infinitum, you have to move along the demand curve, and taxes changes the whole equation. Obviously depends on many industry specifics. This issue is rife with "it depends", honestly needs an essay to cover all bases. I'm not saying your scenario isn't the most likely.

most small businesses run on tiny profit margins 1-5%
why is it liberals say "why couldn't you just go out of business", like as if if they are all for the big corporations...well the answer is...corporatism is fascism, and since the globalist liberals are all corporatists, therefore they are all fascists

It was a purely informational question. I'm anti-corporate.
