Everyone knows how rich and generous the TAX payers of New York are. New York TAX payers are willing to handover whatever amount is necessary. I see signs all over New York pleading for higher taxes, you know, all those Blue signs during election time.

Everyone crossing the border is now an asylum seeker per the Biden administration.
As such they get medicaid, SNAP and a reloadable debit card ($300-$400 month).
The Fed is probably providing money for housing ...maybe from the Refugee Resettlement program.
The backlog for an asylum hearing is 5 years last I read.

Best if we all pack our bags and move. This country is done stick a fork in it.

I guess the 4.2 billion is a little down-payment for the Big Apple on these "migrants".
I hope that Republican governors Abbott and DeSantis can send more buses and cause that amount to "expected to grow even larger" become larger than Democrat Eric Adams can ever dream of.
So here's a recent thing. My city, Austin, was hit with a horrid ice storm a couple weeks ago, and SO MUCH of our green canopy is broken limbs either on the ground, or hanging up in the air, called "widow makers". It's awful. Broken trees on the ground, broken dangerous trees in the air threatening to fall on people and kill them.
You know who's driving around in a truck hauling a makeshift trailer and chainsaws? And wood chippers?
Mexican men, who don't speak much English. For cash. 500, 1000, 1500 bucks they'll take care of your problem.
The city? You can call and schedule a pick up, weeks or even months out.
This country was built on people who wanted to better their lives, and were willing to work HARD, even 7 days a week sun up to sun down.
And it sounds like New York City, Ellis Island, is still open to welcome them.
Myself, I'm really hoping Jose comes back tomorrow to haul off more downed trees. This crew came from Houston, and they're sleeping in their trucks between working really hard for $$$.
People going through Ellis Island did not "build" this country. However, they did follow the LEGAL immigration process. This group of Illegal Aliens crossed into this country illegally and have summarily been rewarded with Free Food, Housing, Medical Care, Cell Phones and cash. While there are LEGAL citizens of the United States living in NYC being ignored.
And this may be a surprise to you but just because a person who looks Mexican, doesn't speak much English and has a couple of chainsaws does not automatically make them an Illegal Alien.
As for these men you hope return, you better hope nothing happens. If they cause any damage, or get injured you are going to be on the hook because most homeowners policies have exclusions for work done by unlicensed and/or uninsured contractors. So perhaps you should ask Jose if he is insured or bonded before you let him do any more work.
I'd be willing to bet that many if not most of the Mexican men you are speaking of were illegal aliens if they can't speak English and are sleeping in their trucks. No one has a right to a better life by breaking laws and taking from others what doesn't belong to them. What part of that don't you get?
Not to mention the question of what they’re doing potentially violating the HOA rules of any applicable HOAs.
Well here come the increases - now they are talking about raising the bottle deposit on cans to 10 cents from 5 cents. Stores already are charging for paper bags if you don't bring your own and a good percentage of that goes back to NY State. Nickle and diming us now.
