Who cares...Musk has been shutting people and entities up on Twitter since he bought it. "Free speech" and all that. Twitter is just going to become Truth Social at which time it will be a giant echo chamber and meh, so...Just...irrelevant.

NPR, Twitter, and the topic at hand aside... is it not a powerful tool of public opinion manipulation, and increasingly so?

I wouldn't call it the fabric of society though. It's a propaganda tool used to sway emotions and thoughts and beliefs.

Hardly something to be proud of or think an important part of society.

NPR was established by the US Congress, and it receives federal funding, so.... it's a federal funded organization. So NPR quits Twitter because they cannot handle the truth.

I agree, not saying it's a righteous thing.

Twitter gives NPR ‘state-affiliated media’ label

Twitter attached a “state-affiliated media” label to National Public Radio’s official account on Tuesday — a designation that is also given to government-controlled outlets such as Russia Today or China’s Xinhua news agency.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk highlighted the move in a Wednesday tweet, sharing language in Twitter’s guidelines that defines “state-affiliated media” as “outlets where the state exercises control over editorial content through financial resources, direct or indirect political pressures, and/or control over production and distribution.”

“Seems accurate,” Musk tweeted...
It is accurate.

The irony is that Elon Musk/Twitter labels NPR as "government funded media" while Elon Musk's SpaceX depends on government contracts - $2B in 2021 and $2.8B in 2022. Tesla too has received hundreds of millions in government money. Does Musk think no one knows that? It's fine to label NPR but at least acknowledge they are not the only ones.

Wow, what a response. This leftist propaganda should never have been subsidized by taxpayers in the first place.
