Some one wrote this:
My kid some times like to play outside, and as boys some times get carried away on an occasion he hit his friend with a stick. I of course stopped him, and reprimanded him.
I know of course, it’s not the sticks fault, but I take it away anyways.
The yard is full of sticks.
And you don't take away sticks from other people's kids who aren't hitting anyone with them.
It was listed as an “assault weapon” in Clinton’s ban in 1994. Legally an AR-15 is officially an assault weapon.
Deal with it.
Do you have any idea how many guns have been manufactured and sold to the US public in the last 100+ years that are basically functionally identical to an AR-15?
How do you ban something that there are already millions of in circulation?
And the 94 ban didn't ban the AR.... Just guns with certain scary characteristics, like fold down stocks an muzzle flash suppressors.
Features that did little or nothing to change the basic functionality of the gun.
The thing that strikes me is the stupidity of the ban. The mentality that lies behind it. The 'motivation' for the ban is gun violence. Not violence in general. The thing is, if one sincerely wants to reduce violence, then one needs to address the root causes. But they don't. This tells me that their motivation is not sincere.
Just the fact that therm 'assault weapon' is used and a non-standard definition is applied to that term, should ring alarm bells. They know that no criminal is going to be affected by this ban.
Quote:
What is assault in Cambridge Dictionary?
/əˈsɑːlt/ C2. to attack someone violently: A woman and a man have been convicted of assaulting a police officer. He had attempted to sexually assault the woman.
So by that definition, an assault weapon is any weapon used in an assault. The new dictionaries apply the term only to rifles, especially the AR15. It is true that any rifle or handgun used in an assault is an assault weapon.
Anyway, here what Oxford says;
Quote:
The origin of “assault weapon” stems from the term “assault rifle,” which the U.S. Army defines explicitly as a selective-fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate power.
Criminals don't care about AR15s. They are too busy illegally converting their stolen Glocks to fully automatic fire, feeding them from illegally owned 30-round magazines that are also banned in Illinois.
But yes, lets pass another useless law for the repeat violent criminals to violate and ignore.

Yes indeedy. Law-abiding gun owners oppressed yet once more for a useless feel-good exercise in futility. The Left never saw a gun they didn't want to ban. They could care less how that relates to crime. Taking guns from law abiding people is the goal. Crime is just the excuse.
