Well, and then once you pay that, you're limited to how many tweets you can see and the thing apparently keeps going down on top of that.
I have both a Twitter account and Threads account though I don’t post on either, I just have the accounts so I can curate whom I follow. Twitter has lost almost all value for me as a reader but I’m hopeful it will come back from the edge if Elon ever lets Linda Yaccarino have some influence.
Threads is too much like Instagram for my taste right now. It doesn't have the features that make Twitter useful for readers and as of now it's only accessible on mobile. Yuck. But due to its Instagram proximity it rapidly gained the critical mass all the other Twitter competitors wished for. Maybe they'll improve it and put Twitter down for good.
I remember well how much conservatives felt that without Twitter alternatives, Twitter should be treated like public utility. Plenty of CD posters here agreed. In view of that, there should be strong support for alternative public messaging platforms that are friendlier to accounts that used Twitter for emergency notifications, hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, before Musk made it difficult.
