It does now. One of Musk's brilliant ideas.

Elon did this to himself.

You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

I don’t use the Twitter app. I view Twitter on my browser.

International news sources sometimes are in a foreign language. If someone, say on Reddit or even here on C-D, posts a Twitter link to such a news article with a brief explanation of what it’s about that interests me, then I can translate the web page article myself into English using Google Translate.

However, a lot of the time the breaking news comes from private citizens who often post video as events happen. Examples are the invasion of Ukraine in February of last year and the first several hours of Prigozhin “revolt” last month.

I am sorely missing the Twitter of old in these days of extreme weather events. It used to be you could see real-time reports from local people but that's all buried under a pile of noise and ads now.

Check on Reddit to see if there is a subreddit for your city/town/area. Locals would probably post about what they are seeing. I’m in an extreme climate. When the snow starts to melt every spring I depend on my local subreddit to tell me where new potholes have opened up on the roads. They are often covered with water from melted snow so are not easy to detect. I don’t want to get my car rims damaged.

My comment was in agreement with the person I was responding to.

C-D is a very rudimentary form of social media but it could also be seen as a long-form version of Twitter. Anything that is part of 'Meta Platforms Inc.' in my opinion is more like "The Matrix."
