That's easy. Mayor Johnson sided with the DPD and Chief Garcia over hardcore left DA John Creuzot over and over. Johnson resisted calls to defund the police.
The yield is Dallas has mostly bucked the sharp increases in violent crime and general disorder noted across most big US cities over the last few years.
Creuzot has been, in writing and action, for minimizing cash bail, expunging most criminal records, minimizing shoplifting sentences (and for a while he floated making some shoplifting penalty free - theft of personal items less than $750 won't be prosecuted) and many more.

The Democratic party establishment lied to it's voters so therefor the Democratic party are not deserving of unchecked loyalty. The same for any party.

I am a solid Center-Right, and I see myself as more of a Truman/Kennedy Democrat than a Reagan/Bush Republican. With that said, I have no party loyalty whatsoever. Yes, it might be selfish, but I vote for policies that benefit me and my family like a strong national defense, a strong economy and strong law & order. Whoever can deliver that, has my vote.
