By the way, the Federal government asking military retirees to return to duty is not really unusual.

Some examples:

As for asking those soldiers that left due to refusing the covid vaccine, they were invited back last year:

COVID is why they got called back.

A world pandemic IS unusual.
The last one was over 100 years ago in 1918.

This is not BAU.

All of us veterans would be proud to stand and fight for our country, even those of us that are old and grey and there's no way we could pass the physical, but we could still pull a trigger or push a launch button.

That said, we would fight for our COUNTRY, not for a blithering idiot who should be institutionalized and is more worried about "correct" pronouns than he is about the security of our nation.

Let him close the borders and kick out the illegal aliens, let him start letting the military be the military and not a social experiment, then we'll talk.

Until then, he can go fly a chinese blimp.

Maybe there are some that will answer the call because they miss the lifestyle but who would really want to? If Biden wins reelection you run the risk of being sent fight Russia in Ukraine, Iran in the Middle East, Who knows which side in the Israel Palestine mess and very possibly the Chinese in defense of Taiwan.

No maybe if Joe does a 180 and wants to send our military to our own Border to actually stop the invasion and not just push papers or risk getting carpel tunnel from waving everyone on in he would get more recruits than he could handle.

It is actually quite rare in recent decades until covid hit.

Your second example was mostly about the CIC putting reserves on active available status for the Pentagon if needed.

Looks like 19 said yes out of almost 2000 kicked out for not taking the vax. And they were "invited" to re-apply through recruiters, with special conditions, not be re-instated to former rank and training specialties. I would certainly send a big F*ck You to that "invitation" myself.

This for sure.^

You fight for your country being threatened, for those around you, not necessarily for those that lead badly (if you can call corrupt Biden a "leader" at all).

My AFSC is on the list. There is no question that I would meet the standards to be able to come back, no question that I would be successful at my old job again.

But here is the problem. Since I already served 24 years, I am getting 60% retirement. My understanding is that you would go back to your normal rank/ pay, which in my case is a MSgt, but you would not get concurrent active duty pay and retirement pay.

So I’d only be working for 40% pay, if you wanted to look at it from the perspective that I get 60% for not working.

Not to mention that I make way more money now as a defense contractor than I did when I was a MSgt.

I guess I’m confused. Who would be willing to do this for such low pay?

But I do have to admit, I like the idea of putting the uniform on again.
