Doors are closing for 1,000 Dollar Tree and Family Dollar locations after the discount variety store chain announced an unexpected surprise fourth-quarter loss in its earnings report Wednesday.

Dollar Tree plans to shutter 600 Family Dollar stores in the first half of fiscal 2024. Over the next several years, the company intends to close 370 more Family Dollar locations, as well as 30 Dollar Tree stores.

Another one bites the dust. The sad outcome of progressive policies that don’t prosecute petty theft.

Who would have thunk it?

Isn't it beautiful when we realize all the "benefits" of dem policy? Of course, the lack of shopping, groceries, and pharmacies will be attributed to "racism" and not the actual reasons of rampant theft and vandalism. Democrat policy is the perfect recipe to turn your city into a slum if you so desire that end. It is the same idiocy that has led to the conclusion that higher rates of crime among black males is simply due to RACISM, rather than the fact that black males account for most of the crime in America. Thus, given that the "diagnosis" has been wrong, the "treatment" (revolving door justice system and emphasizing criminal "rights" over those of victims) has led to MORE CRIME! The only people who did not predict that outcome are DEMOCRATS.

The problem is that dems who don't like high crime, high home prices, high taxes, and restrictions of individual liberties in dem states fail to realize THEIR VOTING PRACTICES created those problems. So, when fleeing the hell hole they have created, through idiotic voting, they simply carry on with the same voting practices elsewhere, destroying those communities.

Look what has happened to Oregon and Colorado after all the libs infected those states. Additionally, look what is happening to NC now from NY and NJ migration. The very thing that the libs who moved there admire about those regions is exactly what they seek to destroy with liberal voting habits.

Only corporations should be allowed to engage in theft. What is this country coming to?

So people stealing isn’t the problem, it’s that we don’t like the dollar tree business model?

Theft is definitely part of their problems, but there are other issues. There was a recent fine for a rat infestation at one of their warehouses, and their workforce turnover rate is quite high. Constantly having to retrain new replacements has proven to be rather expensive. It seems that most other retailers with physical stores are dealing with the theft issue just the same.

Democrat answers to this include:

1. The parent company is a big evil corporation, so they deserve it.
2. The business is run poorly.
3. They pay for insurance, so theft isn't really a big deal.
4. The folks who are stealing need the merchandise more than Dollar Tree.
5. Because I dislike the stores for various reasons, it's not really a big deal.

It's always the fault of something or someone else, but never a consequence of Democrat policy.

No. Apparently we’re afraid of mice.
And don’t like rural America or the hood.

I have occasionally shopped at a dollar store but only for cheap kitchen stuff, never food. I noticed how much counterfeit food they have. I saw a can of split pea soup that had the graphics very similar to Anderson Split Pea. But it was spelled "Andersson Split Pea." They also sell a lot of food or hygiene items way past their sell by date.
