A bigot is one "who regards or treats members of a group with intolerance stemming from devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices"
In this debate, someone who wants to ban homosexuals from the military because of his personal prejudices against homosexuality (as opposed to some factual, evidence based argument) is a bigot. In other words, you are a bigot.
The other poster is not treating (or advocating treating) heterosexuals with intolerance because of her prejudices against heterosexuals. Has she called for a ban of heterosexuals? Has she shown intolerance towards them (or any other group)? She's just calling a bigot a bigot.
Perhaps you are assuming that I "want to ban homosexuals from the military," because I have never said that. But it's very difficult to dialog with you, because you are not using logic, only an outpour of emotions. Where did I say that I want homosexuals banned form the military?
This coming from somebody who believes the military and the boy scouts will be 'destroyed' when openly gay members are allowed to be in both. You've also pretty much stated you wouldn't want to be serving in the military if gays are allowed to be open about their sexuality and glad you got out before this will happen (and probably think gay folks would be hitting on every same sex person around them, trying to oogle everybody in the sleeping quarters, talking about sex all day long, wanting to wear pink helmets, etc.) Newsflash: Not much is going to change at all with how gay military folks act when they are allowed to be open except they won't have to be dishonest and can actually mention their loved ones in a normal conversation (the same ways that straight folks talk about their spouses and the normal things they do in their everyday lives.......both straight and gay individuals should have the right to do this). Sorry, but you seem to have a legit fear, intolerance, and aversion to gay folks (and thus why many are bringing up the bigot label).

I see that you have not sense of humor. Do you really believe that "pink helmets" will be issued to the US Metrosexual Forces? How about changing the OD camouflage color on the tanks and other armored vehicles to bright pink? Well, maybe male military members could wear kilts in the trenches?

Open homosexuality is not allowed in the military as far as I know. Have your roommates told their first sergeant they are homosexual?

Wow......you just don't get it. You think gays being openly allowed to join and serve in the boy scouts and military would 'destroy' those two things. I don't care if it saddens you and that alone wouldn't necessarily make you a bigot......it's the claim that gay folks will destroy the groups, what's behind that statement/thinking, and some other statements you have said along those lines. That's a pretty strong statement saying gays will destroy those two groups if they are allowed to be open about their sexuality and allowed to be honest about who they are.
What I don't understand is why men and women who are gay would want to come out if they're in the military. I mean, I understand not wanting to be wholly in the closet, but the reason gays want to be "out" as civilians doesn't really exist in the military. Living in close quarters in highly tense situations requires uniformity. Beyond someone just being a homophobe, "outing" yourself in the military is just as self-segregating as if people went out of their way to treat you different because you're gay.
The military requires conformity, and I'm sure that's just as much psychological as it is literal. You're not closeted or not gay because you don't tell anyone. It's just, you have to pick your battles and know when and how to read a room.
