By-stander: Well, look... government bailout or takeovers of private companies is nothing new in this country; was Reagan a socialist when he bailed out Chrysler?
And I understand that many people don't believe that the spending is helping, but, again, they are the minority on this.
Hardly in the minority. You've been listening to left-wing radio/TV again!
Reagan didn't bail out Chrysler. Iacocca came with a viable plan, asked for a temporary loan, stopped his own salary and those of many of the top execs there, and then... paid it all back well ahead of time. Good old Yankee ingenuity.
By comparison, the bums at GM, who have shown a callous disregard for their customers for years, are, first, ensuring that their jobs, complete with bonuses, will remain intact. Many will take an early retirement, once their retirement income is safely escrowed away courtesy of your tax dollars.
I worked for the company; GM, until 3 years ago. I went to those annual engineering & customer satisfaction meetings, where they regularly dismissed our concerns, and those we brought to them directly from their customers. They were far more interested in where they could go for dinner in Vegas, and which strip show was best. And oh by the way, we engineers, being just underlings without any valid opinions, had to go off to Applebee's for dinner ,while they went to the best Italian restaurants in town. No cognac too expensive!
Hardly comparable to Iacocca's honest deal, but then it's easy to mislead the under-educated readers, eh? And if you can lead them to slaughter, hey... why not? There's lots more where they came from!
Hmmm, did they have counters at these protests? There were over 4,000 in Downtown Houston alone. And it was only 1 of over 8 protesting areas around the city. (Our city is HUGE).
I can understand why you would not want to answer that.
Keep in mind that the majoritiy of Americans who would have attended could not, because THEY WERE WORKING! It was a Wednesday, If the tea party were held on a Saturday, there would have seen 3x more people.
I like CNN but I saw this yesterday and thought it was wholly unprofessional... nobody wanted to hear the guy's speech but she instigated the situation.
Its sad that they cannot see whats going on..HEY LEFTIES, disagreeing with Obama does not make you a racist, despite what you have heard.
Oh I am so sick of hearing that. I am just going to start agreeing with them Ok I'm a racist Ignore that my husband is hispanic, I am white and his grandmother is from Africa. I'm a racist now what? That is going to be my answer. It doesnt matter what we say they will always call us a racist. So just agree with them and move on to whats next.
The have used the word " racist" so much its not going to have any meaning or effect anymore.
People like Cnn know they helped Obama get elected they cant report honestly that people are upset with Obama and our gov already so they have to put some kinda spin on it. Its only right wing crazy people attending
I hate to tell that women that person that formed the tea party I attended is a democrat. Guess that women is also now a right wing wacko
How can you guys seriously make this argument when FOX dominates the ratings? And how do you explain CNN not being able to elect Gore or Kerry? Dude, McCain and particulalry Palin sucked as candidates... did CNN make them lose all 4 debates as well?
