I agree; get govt out of marriage entirely. Civil unions for everyone...then off to the church to get married if you so desire, depending on your religion's definition of marriage.

If your church recognizes marriage between a man and a parakeet, by all means have at it.

Simple, fair.

In Austria it is common to have two ceremonies - One is Civil in front of a city official the other is in the Church if you desire.

what do you expect? you are whining about an issue that has nothing to do with you in a state you don't live in.

Yes. As it should have been. Regardless of my personal views on the subject, the people do have the right to work to change the Constitution (U.S. or state) to either expand or deny rights.

Hillarious.

After stating time and time again that judges should make the final call, proponents of Gay marriage in CA are now adamant about letting the voters decide.

Even though we've already done that twice.

that is one way to look at it. Or, you could say that it is legalized discrimination. What makes that ok?

There is already talk of it being on the ballot for 2010. It will eventually pass and same sex marriage will be recognized here in California, it's only a matter of time.
