Basically it was a who blinks situation that he should have know he was getting himslef into. He bascially blinked then. JFK was able to cut a deal where it looked like the russians blinked at least;only later did we find out about the deal.Its a dangerous game to play unless your dead serious.

Pushed for a resolution, sent a big ole destroyer to shadow the ship for days and then when push came to shove, he tucked tail and gave up. |
