Sure. As of right now, the government subsidizing GM and then further controlling their means of production by engaging themselves in the hiring and firing of executives and developing reconstruction plans is about as "socialist" as it gets. If infact they do return control to the private entity, then they will have taken a step back from socialist policies.

However, even not using "socialism" to justify my argument, their roll in this entire mess is a huge step over the line of the enumerated powers of the federal government. Or, show me in the constitution where this action with GM is allowed? How about healthcare? How about cap and trade?

The constitution is pretty explicit into the enumerated powers of the feds. All of that is taking a back seat with people who agree with the policies being passed in violation. When the righties passed legislation which violated this amendment (patriot act), the lefties screamed bloody murder. At least I have the logic to call both of them for what they are.

Now that obama, a dem, is in the WH, all those rabid arguments from the Left about abuse of power and shredding the constitution have been put to rest - even though obama is adopting a lot of bush policies and sometimes even going beyond what bush did.

Don't know if you know but the Chicago Tribune is a conservative newpaper... The Sun-Times is their more liberal newspaper.

As U.S. celebrates July 4th, rest assured that Obama is no socialist -- chicagotribune.com

I got a letter from GM (Chevy owner) and it said come buy a new vehicle because their warranty was backed by the full faith of the US Government. Isn't that what we see on dollar bills ? That is not what I want to hear about car warranties
